Does bad weather get you down?

Living in Manchester in Northern England I admit I see my fair share of naff weather. It rains a lot and when its not raining its just dull and cloudy. Some friends of mine find this all pretty depressing but I don't. I love the rain and cloud and overcast weather. In contrast, I don't like the sun. Now, I'm not suggesting we should all re-enact "Singing In The Rain " without an umbrella, but do you find dull weather depressing? Are rows of altostratus ruining your life and driving you mad? Or do you enjoy cloudy and days and yearn for more?

Cloudy weather makes summer golfing somewhat more comfortable, but I prefer clear weather when it's cooler. Cloudy and snowy is best in winter.

NE Ohio gets more cloudy days than most cities in America due to its proximity to the lake, so I understand what you mean better than most.

I live in Manchester too, and right now the weather is perfect. A few breaks in cloud cover, cool, damp. Bliss.

i LOVE it when there's a down-pour of rain and i hate it when it's really sunny. i don't handle well with sun. today wasn't too nice; stuck by a window all day roasting in the sun with no wind to cool me :( .

I love rain. It's so much better walking in the rain than in any other weather. Mainly because there's fewer people around and I generally dislike contact with other people when I'm outside. Also, there's that smell you get when it's raining, and when it's just rained. Love that. And storms! There was one this morning when I went to catch the bus! It was fantastic! Made getting up at 7.15 almost worthwhile! I should stop using so many exclamation marks!!!!!

Fair enough, but I meant in general. *defensive*

The fook ya dissin' arr weather for, you muthaf---in' c---?! *Thump* *Thump* *Thump* (Tinkling of glass, screams)

:p

Only kidding. Honestly, I like cool drizzly weather. I quite like the feeling of rain on me. If I'm just casually walking around on my own time, I often don't even take an umbrella, but let the rain cascade down me. :)

I live in Texas, so outside of early spring, it usually only rains once or twice a month. I like it because it’s a change of pace from the usual clear to partly-cloudy skies.

I absolutely love rain and thunderstorms. Only difference is when it rains, I love to go outside and take a short walk occasionally (if its not pouring too hard), but if its a thunderstorm, I love to just sit at a window and watch it all. It's even more fun if you have someone with you.

Nobody mentioned having snow. You either love it or you hate it. It all depends on my mood. Bean counting is more interesting then weather IMO

there is actually a type of depression called SAD syndrom (no joke)
Seasonal Affected Disorder.... or something, where in depressing winters you actually become depressed in the psycological sense as a result.

Well dull weather does get me down, but like you I prefer the grey, drizzly sort of weather. Could be that I'm mildly agoraphobic or something, but those clear sunny days get to me, while the grey ones give me a nice cozy feeling.

It's the dullness that causes the problem though - I actually quite like storms and suchlike. Though I HATE snow because commuting is a nightmare.

I actually get hyper when it rains and before it rains. It's kind of odd because when it's raining and I'm walking home from school with a couple of friends, I'll be hopping around and skipping and doing things that show how hyper I am, while my friends have their hoods up or backbacks on their heads. So I rather like when it rains. Snow kicks major ass too. Unfortunately the general vicinity of D.C. doesn't get much of it. We get both extremes of weather though. During the summer it's digusting because it's 90 degrees and humid but in the winter it's like 10 degrees. I do like December and November's weather though. Nice and cold and a chance of snow. Right now it's beautiful. It's sunny but not too hot. There's low humidity and a slight breeze. Damn, I wish I was back at the beach, where I was yesterday. With my boyfriend, too, and more perfect weather. *Smacks self* Off topic! Ignore that last bit.... I went way off topic.

One of my friends is affected by the season. In summer and late spring she's much happier but in winter she gets a bit depressed. It's too bad that winter affects her in such a negative way;she loves winter.
