I got a call from a friend about 5 min ago. The stormtroopers where called in to break up the protest. They advanced, and someone lit a firecracker near some stormtroopers. They panicked, and opened fire.

My friend says that at least 100 people are dead, and hundereds more wounded.

To be fair he did say rioting, not protesting. 12:45am is the best time to riot. However the idea of New Yorkers rioting is itself ludicrous. New Yorkers don't riot, they just step up the casual crime.

At worst there might have been a few scuffles between police and a very unruly protester. Sounds to me like you're just repeating heresay.
