Well, it's not a 'death threat' per se, it's a betting thread. But I don't think it's a bet that'll ever pay out. I think it's more likely the man's incompetency runs so deep, he'll manage to do himself in long before some hypothetical assassin, or an angry electorate, either kill or impeach him.

Pretzels anyone?

I seriously doubt whether he will be assassinated or impeached.
1. Think of all the security that surrounds him.
2. Not being American I wouldn't know, but who was the last President to be impeached? Clinton wasn't, even though he lied to the world. Bush has done the same re Iraq and WMD's, but have there been any motions in the House or in the Senate to remove him from office?

Most likely he will be in power until his second term is over, and return to being Governor of Texas.

It'd just amount to the same thing anyway, just with a Prez that no-one actually voted for for, instead of only half the electorate.

Point taken. I've heard ol' Dick is the "most reviled man in Washington", but I don't know what to make of that, being a foreigner and all. If it'd mean a less lopsided approach to running America, well... don't forget Neil Young once sang that "even Richard Nixon has got Soul"...

I love you people who call him an idiot but can't get anyone to beat him. If he is an idiot where does that leave you? Besides Cheney is more conservative than Bush, you wouldn't want a real conservative running things now would ya?

Clinton was impeached. Not over Monica, who he met in private more times than his intellegence officers, but for perjury in the Anita Broderick rape trial in which he settled. Ain't it funny that the last democratic president was also impeached for lying during his own rape trial? No, on second thought, it isn't funny is it?

LOL no... that would be pretty funny though. It was one of those two-wheeler 'carts' that were supposed to revolutionize how people got around, but I can't remember what they're called... anyway, they're supposed to be utterly foolproof, yet Bush managed to fling himself off of one.

Like I was saying before, the man is waaaaaay more likely to do something impossibly dumb to bring about his own end, like bite the cap off his can of shaving cream and suffocate himself in an explosion of foam, or have a sudden unexpected violent coughing fit while doing an impression of a walrus with ball-point pens stuck up his nose.

I dunno, something like that. No assassin's gonna ever get close enough, and no-one's ever gonna get him impeached for anything. In some ways, he's as teflon as Ronnie Ray Gun.

Hey, you're misquoting me on the second one there... I didn't talk about Andrew Johnson. Dude, I don't even know who Andrew Johnson is - although someone referred to him when I asked, last night, whether gross incompetency was grounds for impeachment.

Andrew Johnson was Abe Lincoln's Vice president after the 1864 elections. When Abe had his brains blown out, Johnson (a Democrat) was President. In 1866, Johnson was brought up for impeachment by the Radical Republicans in the Senate for Incompetence. Please recall, this was during the Reconstruction period, and there were a lot of people in important places in the U.S. government that wanted to punish the former Confederate States. Johnson impeded that, so they tried to remove him.
He survived in office by a single vote, which narrowly avoided having Secretary of State Seward move into the oval orifice.
(Seward, of course, being implicated in some of the more interesting conspiracy theories as a co-conspirator in the Lincoln Assassination...)

Bush won't be impeached for one, simple reason: Unlike Clinton, Bush hasn't perjured himself in a criminal investigation under United States law. ("International Law" is more of a gentleman's agreement than something enforceable, and it's doubtful one could make a strong enough case without militarily conquering the U.S. first.)

AS for assassination, Reagan broke the "00" pattern by surviving an attempt early in his term. The Secret Service would have to seriously drop the ball for George to be taken out by a lone nut assassin.

I've closed this thread before, stating that this gives too much room for things to go downhill. Even discussing a possible 'assassination' of the President isn't recommended. I'd suggest that you not create another thread like this. Nothing good can come out of it.
