Does anybody know of any good pro-GLBT songs? I have rather few, and I'm looking for more.
Have you heard "I heart fags (http://www.frontalot.com/lyrics/iheartfags.html)"? I like it.

:D
"Here i give you this advice, love a fag today
either up close and personally, or from far away
see fags are gay, and gay's a good adjective
it means like happy and high, but you had to just
shy me away from the topic of my fag-love
something maybe that you're lacking in? don't get mad just
cause you don't have such a big heart as frontalot"
I can't believe I hadn't heard that one yet.

The Hazzards - Gay Boyfriend.
"I like cigarettes, and that's no gag, but you'll always be my favourite fag!"
I can't believe I hadn't heard that one yet.
Which ones is it that you have?

Uhh, "He's a poof" by the Macc Lads? Maybe they're being ironic. Probably not...

Lara Fabian, who once tried to break into the U.S. market with an English language CD but only really got wide airplay for "I Will Love Again," once did an anti-homophobia song in her original (?) language, French. It's called "La Difference" IIRC.
Though almost any song could take on that connotation if you worked it right. If I were going to have a recording career, I'd be singing the Chambers Brothers' "Time Has Come Today" for that purpose.

Franz Ferdinand's "Michael" is definately pro GLBT.
Let's see...
That "Which MC" song, the "Rappers We Crush" duet with KOMPRESSOR, "Nercore Hiphop", and "Indier Than Thou". Possibly another, I can't remember.
EDIT:
Wait, you are asking me which MC Frontalot songs I've heard, right? Or did I misinterpret?
No, I meant which pro-LGBT songs you had heard. And I hadn't heard any of the ones you mentioned.

Hah. Sorry about the misunderstanding. :D
Well, I've heard rather little, that's why I asked. This morning I realized that I couldn't think of any particular songs that I'd heard that were pro-GLBT, so I figured I needed to find some.
Just looking at punk and hardcore here...
Glad To Be Gay by The Tom Robinson Band?
Ever Fallen In Love With Someone (You Shouldn't've) by the Buzzcocks?
Plenty of Turbonegro?
Almost the entirity of the back catalogue of Queercore bands like Team Dresch, Bikkini Kill, Limp Wrist, Knifed, Pansy Division?
As far as transgendered musicians go, the only one I can currently think of other than that Israeli that won the Eurovision Song Contest is Jayne* County.

A Spinal Tap cover, shurely?

I don't know.
I don't know.
It is. You should watch the film - it still stands up well today.

Some research later, and you're right. Although the Spinal Tap version is not pro-GLBT, since it's about a woman.
I was thinking of TS songss since noone has mentioned any, and it struck me that noone has yet mentioned the classic Walk on the Wild Side.

I don't know of any. Just stay away from the band Anal ****.

Always considered that more of a TV song myself - certainly that's what the first verse suggests, and the rest is just your generic New York 1970s lower-east side hustlers, pimps and wanna-be stars.

Could be tranvestite, but it is transgendered (at least according to last time I heard the terms used). Likewise Lola by the Kinks. Hmm, seems transgenders have a following in more popular music.

Certainly Lola is said to be about a TS, and I have no arguments with that (although it is pretty ambiguous overall), however, 'Holly' was Holly Woodlawn, and she was (/still is) a TV, rather than a TS.

Connotations, denotations and nuances, why is one person called a CD and another called a TV and yet a 3rd person called a drag queen? There is a difference, but it more connotative the denotative.

A drag queen has strong conotations of homosexuality, and although these may also be present for CD/TV they are much weaker.

Ever heard any Eric Himan? I love him. He's gay, and sings about gay issues. It's not queeny either, Eric is a masculine, tatooed stud. Also, you can get a bunch more from http://www.planetout.com
Look under their entertainment section.
Bare in mind though, these are LGBT artists, not straight people singing about pro-gay topics.

You know, though, that all of the people mentioned in that song were real people who hung around the Andy Warhol Factory scene in the late 60s.

Uh-huh: therefore my reference to Holly Woodlawn (the Holly of the first verse). I was using 'generic' there to mean 'generic as far as any argument surrounding TG/TV goes' rather than just 'completely generic'.

As a song itself though, it is hardly pro-anything other than heterosexual relations lyrically.

Is a really 'rockin' band if you're into punk rock type music.
For sure a song "Less Talk, More Rock" from the album
of the same name,
lyric sample:
i'd like to actively encourage the toughest man to dance as hard as he can to this, my song. and bring your stupidest friends along. we wrote this song because it's fucking boring to keep spelling out the words that you keep ignoring. and your macho shit won't phase me now. it just makes us laugh, we got your cash, court-jester take a bow. because did you know that when i was nine, i tried to fuck a friend of mine? he was 8, then i turned 10. 14 years later it happened again (with another friend). this time me on the receiving end. and all the fists in the world can't save you now. cuz if you dance to this, then you drink to me and my sexuality. with your hands down my pants by transitive property.
also from the same album:
"The Only Good Fascist Is A Very Dead Fascist"
other songs on said album cover various political and human rights issues.
another album is a early singles compilation:
Where Quantity is Job #1 (1998)
has some of their older songs with a couple pro-gay songs.
the rest as with other album.

Pansy Division, etc. have been mentioned, here are others:
Anti-Flag - "Right To Choose" (you'd think it would be about abortion, but it isn't.)
Meshell N'deocello (sp?) "Leviticus: Faggot" (she's a bisexual performer.)
Melissa Etheridge - "Come To My Window" "I'm the Only One" etc. (gay love songs.)
Billy Bragg - "Sexuality"
M.D.C. - "The King and Queen of Texas Hardcore" (about Gary Floyd, the gay lead singer of the Dicks, and later Sister Double Happiness.)
Romanovsky & Phillips - A gay couple from the '80s who made music. I haven't heard anything by them, though.
etc...

Almost everything by Le Tigre.
A lot of Placebo songs.
Alcoholic kind of mood
lose my clothes, lose my lube
cruising for a piece of fun
looking out for number one
different partner every night
so narcotic outta sight
what a gas, what a beautiful ass.
And it all breaks down at the role reversal,
got the muse in my head she's universal,
spinnin' me round she's coming over me.
And it all breaks down at the first rehearsal,
got the muse in my head she's universal,
spinnin' me round she's coming over me.
Kind of buzz that lasts for days
had some help from insect ways
comes across all shy and coy
just another nancy boy.
Woman man or modern monkey
just another happy junkie
fifty pounds, press my button
going down.
And it all breaks down at the role reversal
got the muse in my head she's universal,
spinnin' me round she's coming over me.
And it all breaks down at the first rehearsal,
got the muse in my head she's universal,
spinnin' me round she's coming over me.
Does his makeup in his room
douse himself with cheap perfume
eyeholes in a paper bag
greatest lay I ever had
kind of guy who mates for life
gotta help him find a wife
we're a couple, when our bodies double.
And it all breaks down at the role reversal
got the muse in my head she's universal,
spinnin' me round she's coming over me.
And it all breaks down at the first rehearsal,
got the muse in my head she's universal,
spinnin' me round she's coming over me.
And it all breaks down at the role reversal,
got the muse in my head she's universal,
spinnin' me round she's coming over me.
And it all breaks down at the first rehearsal,
got the muse in my head she's universal,
spinnin' me round she's coming over me.
