i'm just looking for random outside opinions on this because i read something in the newspaper today that caught me rather by surprise. i figure this is as good a place as any to try and sort this out in my mind.
"Until you stop the bombing, gassing, imprisonment and torture of my people we will not stop this fight."
that quote comes from the supposed mastermind of the july 7 london bombing attacks. supposedly, he filmed a message before he blew himself up and set it to the al qaeda folks who eventually released it to al jazeera.
now, lets ignore the obvious:
1) authenticity. not interested right now.
2) apology. i don't like any war and condemn both sides.
3) credibility. who really knows? not me, anyways.
what i'm interested in and rather dumbfounded by is that this man seems to be accusing western forces of gassing iraqis. he does not specify whether they are innocent iraqis or terrorists....he just lumps gassing in with bombing and torture as though everybody knew it was happening.
this is the first i've heard of any kind of gassing happening.
so i thought to myself, well, if it was happening then the independant media probably would be murmuring something or other. now, i read a lot of conspiracy literature. i'm rather convinced that bush has a racial agenda. but, i've yet to see anybody actually accuse anybody of gassing anyone until now.
furthermore, i thought to myself.....all these independant journalists that have gone missing. what really happened to them? are they really being kidnapped? or are they being taken out to prevent any real knowledge from coming out of iraq.
i realized that we have no idea what is really happening there as the only sources we have - cnn, fox, etc - are state-sanctioned garbage.
then i remembered that italian woman who got shot by us troops, supposedly as some kind of mistake. what if the only mistake was that she survived it?
