Chief Justice Rehnquist Dies at 80
Chief Justice William Rehnquist died on Saturday evening at his home in Arlington, Va., a spokeswoman for the the Supreme Court announced. Rehnquist was 80 years old.

Im glad he's gone. He didn't have to die, but he was 80, so he had it coming anyway, but I still shudder to think who's going to replace him.

May Renquest rest in Peace, and his family be comforted.
May Bush decide to put someone female and minority race in the supreme court. With 52% of the American population female, and few minority races left in the supreme court, I think that should be taken into account along with the rulings on issues.
I predict, however, that the good 'ol boys club, which Bush is a part of, however, will prevail. Scalia will be chief, and another white male conservative will be appointed by Georgie boy.

Can't really say. Some judges (IE: Kennedy) seem to chnage when they get onto the SCOTUS bench. We'll have a wait a year or so to see how he does.
I can't wait to see what Jon Stewart will have to say about all this...

I don't know, Bush has tended to outsmart media expectations. I fully anticipate him nominating - Justice Janet Rogers Brown, as chief!

I saw this on the news last night, and while it's sad, it wasn't all that suprising. He's been on life support for a while, and this was bound to happen.
Hopefully Bush'll nominate another Roberts type. While still a conservative, he's not an idealogue, and considering how conservative Rehnquist was, a Roberts type would be a step to the left.
