The US economy added jobs, with an unemployment rate of 4.9%. This crossed a psychological threshhold, as firms will panic for workers in this now tight labor market, forcing wages up. Such a shame that Katrina will ruin it all. But I do think that it might create more jobs in construction in the long run. Katrina was really a cold-hearted bitch to crash this party.
