i feel strongly that the roastees should be asked if its OK with them to be the subject of a roast. the jokes can be brutal and no one should be subject to it without agreeing to it

AND everyone who posts something about the roastee needs to know that he or she can and will flame them right back with the same level of cruelty that they flamed the roastee with.

do you think that each roaster should have one (or maybe 2) shots at the roastee? say everything they have to say in one brutal posts? thats sort of how it is done in real life roasts, each person gets up and says soemthing mean about the roastee (and about everyone else attending) then sits down and waits to get flamed back

Good idea, but we need to make sure that everything is done as good natured teasing and discourage vicious attacks. No one can maintain a good attitude if this is used to hurt them personally.

He should be back tomorrow and can decide if he would like to be a roastee. I think he would be a lot of fun to roast as he takes Fass' and my jabs at him with good humor and some well-placed jabs back. Tink is tied for 2nd, she's here, and she's agreeable to be the first victim, so why not Tink? Though I would find it awfully hard to insult her. :fluffle: (Beat you to the fluffle) It would be nice if we could make this a regularly scheduled weekly or monthly event so that we could honor (ha!) more than one person. Tink, for your roastmaster, why don't you pick someone from your NS region or someone who knows you well? Maybe Peech would do it!

Sounds pretty good for here in the US as Monday is a national holiday. It would also give Melkor and Eut a chance to accept or decline a future roast and let them get in on the fun of picking on Tink.

That would be more fair. I think week-end-long would be fine, though, perhaps TInk Friday at 11:00 GMT, Melkor Saturday at 11:00 GMT, and Eut as the grand finale on Sunday at 8:00 GMT.

Sounds pretty good for here in the US as Monday is a national holiday. It would also give Melkor and Eut a chance to accept or decline a future roast and let them get in on the fun of picking on Tink.

Tink, if someone starts picking on you in anything other than a good natured way, I'm pretty sure others on here will sort them out pretty quick. If they don't want to play nice, we'll just ignore them until they go troll somewhere else. :fluffle: (gotcha again)

I agree. He takes some things personally, but this he can easily laugh off.

What seems to set him off is when others level attacks on his honesty and especially when they question his military service. I don't see either of those as valid roasting points.

i was trying to work up a bit of a start on what i would say to roast tink and i dont think i can do it. it really comes off as MEAN when you write it down. not that roasts arent mean but the mean things people SAY come and go while posts are "forever"

jot some things down that would be appropriate for a roast and youll see what i mean.

That would be more fair. I think week-end-long would be fine, though, perhaps TInk Friday at 11:00 GMT, Melkor Saturday at 11:00 GMT, and Eut as the grand finale on Sunday at 8:00 GMT.

Take a cue from the Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts. No one was *really* aquainted with the person they roasted! well... very few. (The Jimmy Stewart roast was the best, everyone knows Jimmy.) To make a decent roast speech, you only need pick a comedian and emulate him...

Well, don't take my post wrong.. I'm saying that Eutrusca would take any comments *I* made personal as we are not and have never been friends. So, I should not take part. I am friends with Tink & Melkor, so I know they will take my comments in humour.

If you approach it in a good hearted way I'm sure he would be receptive to teasing. He and another NSer he used to butt heads with get along fine on a personal basis and still participate in lively debates. It's a matter of perception and intention.
