i bought an external HD today for my PC, and after plugging it in everything went dead - the screen went blank and the system totally froze.
now, i've just spent the last 4 months recovering and rebuilding from the last time my PC did this when the hard drive failed... so i was a tad annoyed... and punched a hole in my wall...
...wich is currently being covered up with a cunnigly placed poster, but that won't fool the ol' parents for long.
what should i do? they are gonna be so mad cos the wall is gonna have to be replastered now, and they think i have something of a anger problem as it is :(
i could tell em straight, now, or i could wait till they ask why this poster has been moved so such a weird position all of a sudden... which is probably quite stupid
but first before i do anything i think i'm gonna go out for a drive and cool down.
incidentally, the bloody PC is fine :headbang:
I'd just be completely honest with them. Let them know that you got REALLY pissed off and you just couldn't control your frustration.
If it will help smooth things over afterwards, offer to help pay for the damage.

mm i intend to make that offer, thanks :)
and i'll go now and tell em honestly now...
play the psychiatric card you may just get zoloft or prozac
hooray for prescription drugs :D
i say don't tell them and get a bucket of plaster, some paint and a trowel and get to it
haha, man a similar event happened to me not a while ago. I punched and kicked several holes in the wall because my wireless router fell onto the ground and burst into peices after I had JUST purchased it. My dad, being a programmer understood completely so nothing happened. The best advice I can give is to just explain to your 'rental's exactly how it happened and why you don't have anger problems.

Psychotropic drugs aren't really for this kind of anger. Every so often a person can just lose control. It happens.
Drugs can't solve everything...

LOL.
I've had my share of comp issues, but never punched a hole in my wall. I usually punch the hell out of my bed and pillow, because I know I'm much less likely to end up in your situation than if I just punched the nearest - incidently very hard - object.
I'd say either fix it yourself quickly if you know how, or just come out and be honest about it. Maybe they'll be understanding?

When I busted a hole in the wall I fixed it up before anyone noticed.
It's a good plan.

well its too late to fix it up without their knowing - i just told em. apparently its in a place thats 'really not going to be easy to fix' :(
and i think i do have an anger management problem - i get like this a lot but i usually hit things that don't break so easy (like desks or more solid walls) :(

I second this suggestion. At least if they notice it after it's fixed they'll be less angry.

You should learn to deal with your anger in way that doesn't include hitting things. Have you tried self-mutilation? :p
Just kidding, maybe meditation would work better. Or just don't worry about anything, like me. :D

you don't have a problem. most people get like that. it's a way of dealing. why, just a few months a go i punched a wall(i can't remember why), but since it was concrete, no harm was done... except for me, of course. my fist was swollen for a few days. god, that hurt like hell....

yeah i know - its not good... but you'll be pleased to hear i never hit people :)
i never worried about anything when i smoked pot, but i've been clear of that for almost 3 months now... damnit i need a spliff! ;)

Maybe you should go back to pot. My Trekkie friends say that smoking pot while watching Star Trek: The Motion Picture on a huge screen and with blasting audio is a freak-out experience.

oh i don't know... i'm like this most of the time. my hand is bruised from where i bite it to control the anger, and also from punching things; i lash out at people and have such a short temper; i get severely irritated at the smallest of things - basically i'm not a nice bloke to be around. but thats only some of the time - sometimes i'm happy as a pig in shit with everything, and everybody; nothing is a problem and i get my confidence back; plus i hate it when i'm in angry mode :(
this is why i'm thinking things are basically not right

*thinks up ingenious plan to get a medicinal marijuana licence* ;)
Always tell the truth. Yes you will have to pay the consequences but in the long run it will be better. Perhaps you could stage a falling...you may have to bruise some part of yourself for this to work effectly and do a lot of yelling...but your parents won't make you pay for it then.....or just tell the nicer parent...
Happy to say I don't actually go and punch things....actually....maybe not....anger build up isnt good either...well anyways, I generally yell at whoever is nearest when I get mad. Or find my happy place....(and personally I have never done drugs...though some may wonder)

Honesty is the best policy.
Of course, by process of elimination, dishonesty is the second-best policy. :D If you can think of a good lie, groovy. But don't let them discover it for themselves. Take the initiative. Take some blame for a dumb blunder. It's a happy medium.
Of course, you should probably tell the truth...

I'm not an expert in electronics and such, but m'thinks I've a decent understand, and it sounds like you shorted out your circuits.
Honesty's usually the best policy, so it's good you told them, but work on your anger problems, PM.
Ehh, I got in a fit of rage a while back and did the same thing. Luckily it was on a tiled area, so I just said the floor was wet, I slipped, and my elbow went through it.
I'm more careful now. >.>
why don't you hire a plasterer to come and fix your wall, and your parents won't know...
and didn't you hurt your hand?
I punched a wall a couple weeks back...
...My knuckles were red for a good hour or two. But it felt good in a weird way. Eh.

When I'm angry, I bend metal clothes hangers. For some reason I'm never angry enough to cause expensive property damage.

And there you go, kids, today's *important moral lesson* is this: it is always better to kill your parents than to tell them the truth.
why don't you hire a plasterer to come and fix your wall, and your parents won't know...
All you need is to stuff some steel wool into the hole and coat it with plaster-of-paris. (I think that's all my old man did to fix the hole I made.)

nah they were suprisingly cool about it - annoyed and mildly angry, but cool. i gotta pay but its no big deal cos my mum wanted to repaint the room anyway... apparently
other than that gonna go get some fun-fun councelling and hopefully that elusive medicinal marijuana licence :D

no the hands fine, thanks for asking :D
as for any plan regarding fixing it before they find out: i've already told them about it, and, besides, they work from home so there's no chance of getting someone in without their knowing (which does suck ass in more ways than one  )
edit: LMAO! BOOM HEADSHOT!! :p :p
