This thread is for all you out there that like to drink. I personally love to drink. I generally have alcohol at least 4 days a week (not an alcoholic though because I could live without it...I just choose not to :D). Anyway, my favorite drink is absinthe. My favorite beer is Blue Moon.

I used to drink much more than I do these days.

Seems anymore, I just get sick way too fast to actually enjoy myself when Im drinking.

So..I just dont drink much.

I do however, enjoy a cold Woodchuck draft.

I don't like to drink at all. Alcohol tastes like poison to me, probably because it is. I don't have any moral objections to your drunkenness, I would just rather drink some Coca Cola.

Bizarrely enough, I'm currently drinking more consistently and often than I have been for years. I haven't had a day without a drink for about the past month, although some days 'a drink' has consisted solely of a shot of rum or a measure of whiskey. A kind of strange thing to happen to someone in their early thirties - the kind of age where people are generally calming down and settling into somewhat more humdrum work and life patterns, whereas I find myself veering away from such regularities.

Current fave tipples of the moment: dark rum, Carlsberg lager, Powers, Crabbe's ginger wine, and the mighty (but slightly sickly) Whiskey Mac.

Ah, but it should be pointed out that certain alcoholic drinks taken in moderation (such as red wine) have certain health benefits, whereas the same cannot be said for Coca Cola.

Coca Cola is poison mate - they wern't allowed to put cocaine in it so they put a s#*t load of chemicals in to compensate.

i like to drink all beer - Ale, stout, bitter, lager and mead :)

Yeah, but Coca Cola in moderation doesn't necessarily have any negative effects. Coke makes me happy and I like being happy. Booze tastes gross and I generally avoid that which repulses me. I couldn't drink red wine if I wanted to, anyway. The stuff gives me a headache and the smell sends me running from the room.

Errr....I live in the US too. You just can't sell absinthe in the US. It isn't technically illegal to buy it from an overseas distributor though. I have about 8 bottles.

I drink beer usually, but I prefer Vodka. The little water beats water all to hell if you ask me. I enjoy it straight or with hot blackcurrent juice. And yes, I'm drunk & drinking right now. Not Vodka though.

I haven't tried a lot of different kinds of alcohol, but I can say I like gin (in moderation, of course). I'm not a big fan of wine, and I really don't like the taste of beer. In fact, I still usually prefer soft drinks to liquor, but that may be because I'm pretty young.

I drink beer mostly, preferentially Timothy Taylor's Landlord.

Not necessarilly no, but it is a pretty weak example of a 'healthier' alternative to alcoholic beverages.

I couldn't drink red wine if I wanted to, anyway. The stuff gives me a headache and the smell sends me running from the room.

Personally red wine gives me migraines. The pleasure of drinking a couple of glasses of red wine is not worth the blindspots or feeling like someone is hammering a railroad spike into the left front of my head the day after.

I went to a tavern in Indianapolis, and ordered one. I wayched the bartender put the orange slice in it, and thought to my self "what the F@$& is he doing to my beer?!" Then I took a sip and damn near jumped the bar to hug him! lol

I'm a fan of anything really. Lager is my main tipple, although being British, I also love my bitter. Vodka, tequila and absinthe... it's all good stuff once you get down to it. And of course, you can't forget gin and whiskey... and red or white wine doesn't go amiss.

But I'm not a heavy drinker. I don't drink all that often, maybe one or two beers a week. It's the parties that I infrequently go that really get me there... but I know the dangers of drink, so I'm careful.

Refined sugar screws with your brain because it gives your brain a load of energy for a short while and then you energy plumets to levels lower than they were before you had some cola. you brain isn't desighned for that kinda crap and it can lead to a lot of problems - so there ;)

My good sir (or madam, it's hard telling the difference with just nation names to go by), you have not encountered the fancy ciders available in your local supermarket. They are prime examples of decent cider. Admittedly, some ciders are mainly consumed by those people known as "chavs", but there are some very nice examples of the fermented apple drink out there, you just have to know where to look. Also, a pint of cider in a pub is hardly "chav-ish", as it costs more than a two-litre bottle of it, most times.

It is sir, for the record. Also, it is not only my dislike for chavs and chavettes that makes me regard cidar through tinted glasses, it is also the resultant effects that I have seen of my friends drinking the afore-mentioned 'fancy' cidars.

I'm mostly a beer man myself, yet still young and have many more to try.

Also quite partial to vodka.

Toohey's Old is a good brew, as is Boag's.

Also, the thing that makes Absinthe illegal is the wormwood inside it, which happens to be a hallucinagen. I don't know about the US but in AUS you can get Absinthe without the wormwood which is perfectly legal and happens to be about 70% alcohol or so.

Nasty stuff...

For me, I enjoy wine when socialising with a small group of friends, and vodka when going out (or socialising with this great Ukranian woman I know). Straight from the freezer into ice-cold shot glasses then down in one gulp is the best way to have it.

Absinthe. Good absinthe, mind. The kind drunk by poor French artists in shady bistros in Paris, just powerful enough to be cool and sexy. Not bad absinthe. The kind drunk by ex-Soviet peasants in rotten shacks in the barren hills of the Czech Republic, just powerful enough to kill you, rape your corpse and sew your skin into a fetching jacket.

Absinthe is not illegal in the US.

The FDA proscribes its sale and production, but there is no law against importing it for personal consumption.

Thus, you just have to find a reliable European retailer online. It is extremely expensive, however... I generally pay around $90 for a 50cl bottle, with shipping.
