Bob Dylan the Great

It has only recently struck me how haunting, strange and ingeniously beautiful much of Bob Dylan's music is.
He's imagery is incomprehensible but it always seems to work perfectly.
His eschatological rambling is sublime.
I am tempted to think he is the best poet of the second half of the 20th century.

It's not like he has much competition. At least not since the Beat Generation and 2/3 of that wasn't very good.

I don't think his imagery is always so incomprehensible. Look at the song, 'The Hurricane', for example. It's awfully straightforward...
He's great all around, plus he influenced Grant Hart.

I rather enjoy All Along the Watchtower, but that's just me.

Indeed, however I was referring to his many songs with incomprehensible imagery, not those which are straightforward.

I think Bob Dylan is the greatest poet of the 20th century and of the 1st 5 years of the 21st century.
I am named after him. No, my name isn't Bob. It's Dylan.

Well, my mother had me on his birthday, so there :)
As for the whole 20th century, you forget some greats like T S Eliot and Robert Frost.
I wouldnt name a greatest poet of the entire century, but since frost and eliot died, i can certainly name Dylan.
