A question for the American contributers, in light of their nation's disdain for the UN and ICC. Should Mugabe be brought infront of the UN or ICC to face trail for crimes against humanity, and if so how:

A strange statement from the Namibians, who are usually complicit in Mugabe's devious plans.

Mugabe can still be tried at the International criminal court

International pressure is mounting for Robert Mugabe to be indicted by the International Criminal Court to face charges of crimes against humanity. Although Zimbabwe is not a signatory to the International Criminal Court, Australia and New Zealand have already set in motion plans to push the United Nations to refer Mugabe to the ICC for possible prosecution. Alexander Downer, the Australian foreign minister, said although it may be difficult to bring Mugabe to the Hague, it was worth a try.

Meanwhile, the Executive Director of Namibia's National Society for Human Rights Phil ya Nangoloh is urging all other UN member states, including the five UN security council permanent members to support the Australia-New Zealand move.

He said a new democratic government in Zimbabwe can actually ask the ICC to indict Mugabe and prosecute him in the Hague or even prosecute him internally.

Um, the UN isn't there for trying criminals, so the ICC is the best bet. Pity some superpower that we all know would fight any such action tooth and nail.

I believe that it is the right of every nation to bring their own dictators to task without outside interference if they so desire. This is why many Chileans did not support Spain's request to extradite Pinochet from the UK. However, if the people of Zimbabwe want to have him tried by the ICC, it behooves us all to support them in their struggle.

Sorry, maybe I needed to explain I meant a UN special commission, like the ones they have for Rwanda and the former Yugoslavia.

He won't be getting to any court if angry mobs of locals get hold of him.
He's just about trashed the economy already and made lots of enemies of the population.
