Now that Hurricane Katrina has bashed the south coast of America, will it start to look after itself and stop meddling with other country's affairs?

A curious point I thought.

Now is not the time.

I just hope that congress will free up cash for saving and rebuilding New Orleans as easily as they did for invading and trashing Iraq.

Yeah, maybe we should pull out for a few months, just to free up some money for this.

At the same time, oil needed for tanks will go back to civilians, putting prices back down. It's kind of a double-deal.

I do enjoy how many people are using the hurricane to bash America. Quite sporting.

That's hilarious, because what happens to Iraq, a country that produces 2.1 million BPD? If we pullout, prices skyrocket even more when the country falls.

I think america should stay in Iraq until they can stand on their own. I am against the invasion but leaving now would be stupid. That is not the topic.

All I'm saying is that Congress was always more than happy to free up billions for the invasion of Iraq. They should extend the people of New Orleans and several other southern cities, the same courtesy. They must take care of their own.

What about the troops there? will they get shortchanged?

Now now, calm down. We'll just wait until President Bush discovers which country or terrorist cell sent the hurricane, and proceed accordingly.

What about the troops there? will they get shortchanged?I don't see how the hurricane disaster has anything to do with the troops in Iraq.

In a way it does- there are about 3,000 National Guardsmen from Louisiana stationed in Iraq right now that some people think could be put to much better use nearer to home....

What's the word?... will New Orleans be rebuilt?

That's what it's been. They never should have bothered saving it so many years ago. What's the point? It will just continue to sink and flood, why should my tax dollars go to saving an unsaveable city?

Instead of being indirect and ambiguous, why not post an argument attacking the concepts of freedom, democracy and human rights. These are the values that these pesky Americans constantly peddle.

A prayer for those in New Orleans. This is apolitical.

i don't think it's a good idea to send the soldiers from lousiana back as support. there could be a conflict of interest... imagine, you stand near the ruins of you civil life. on one hand, you would try to recover whatever is left, on the other hand you have to perform military duties. i think it's better if people who are supposed to help aren't personally involved in the catastrophy.

That's like asking now that London has won the Olympics, will the country's cooking finally improve?

Seeing how the city of NO has become New Somalia, I am thinking that the Tsunami victims were much better.

Although once the criminals in NO are wiped out, I would hope that the State gets a new governor and the people of LA get MORE money than the Tsunami victims.

You know what I find funny? That, last year, Congress turned down allocating money to Lousiana to strengthen New Orleans' levees, and then proceeded to give Alaska $230 million to build a massive bridge connecting an island with 10 people on it to the mainland. Honestly, what is wrong with these people?!? Our government is so freaking corrupt it sickens me.
