What do you use when you go on the internet? Internet Explorer? Firefox? Opera? Safari?

Internet Explorer. I'm starting a malware and virus collection and IE beats every other browser when it comes to catching them.

Safari, because I'm on a mac.

Once I got used to the mac OS X, it became my favorite system to use. So easy, and pretty damn secure.

Firefox. Tabs are good.

And I have to agree with Manhands. That's pretty much the reason I don't have XP in 64-bit: Microsoft managed to make newer technology slower.

On an off-topic note, Manhands, do you watch much Seinfeld?

(I always have to put that "like I'm an idiot" thing to computer people because otherwise they exlpain whatever it is in jibberish. Opera on two OS's. It's a browsing machine. Tabs, of course, but keyboard shortcuts and speed hands down over others.

I tried Firefox and it's nice, but Opera is better for my purposes. And it's free for anyone to use. Just give it a few weeks and read the documentation so you can use all the features - like mouse gestures.

It comes with Internet Explorer too if you can bother to download a plug-in that does it. There are several, most notably including the Google Toolbar.

I personally use Netscape 8. Tabbed browsing and secure, but you can use the I.E. engine to get websites to display properly. Plus I just prefer it. The only downside is that it takes up more RAM, but on this computer that's pretty irrelevant.

I used to use Firefox, but it just doesn't work with any of this company's content management systems, so I had to abandon it.

I though there would be a lot more people choosing Internet Explorer and AOL.

There are, but if you ask in a forum of people who live on the internet you're going to get a lot of Firefox replies :p. The vast majority of people on the internet still use Internet Explorer. Some of them use quite old versions of Internet Explorer -- for instance on our company website roughly 35% of people use IE6, while almost 50% use IE5. 5% use IE4!

I made the switch to Firefox about a year ago, and I've never looked back. I keep downloading all the little add-ons which make browsing the net so sweet, and I now have a browser so perfectly customised that it's almost psychic, the way it pre-empts me.

If it got deleted I would actually weep. Whereas I've tried my hardest, but still haven't completely managed to delete IE from my laptop. *refills flamethrower*

I use Firefox, except on rare occasions where it doesn't support a page. Then I drag out *shudder* IE. Tabbed browsing is awesome (how did we ever live without it?), and I downloaded an extension which allows me to play online Pong.

I tried Opera, but didn't really like it. The setup seemed to cluttered, and nothing was where it felt it should be.

Ok, I've done some serious research in this (a while ago) and this is my opinion:

Opera is just as fast as Firefox but a bit more secure, and Firefox has a lot more and cooler extensions than Opera (ForecastFox, AdBlock, StumbleUpon, Mouse Gestures, Dictionary Search, Work Offline, Session Saver, Iget and many more). Also, Firefox is free while Opera comes with an add-banner unless you pay for it (which I don't really want to do).

If you're a security freak go with Opera, if you don't mind a bit less security but a lot more, useful extensions go with Firefox.

Btw, all of this is considering you are using a PC.
