"Evolutionists" v. "Mud People:" Framing the Debate

The american science-denier movement has taken to using the word "Evolutionist" to refer to people that believe in biology.
The suffix brings connotations of ideology and a political or social agenda.
In the good tradition of fairness, and as a tip of the hat to the rhetorical skills of whoever coined "evolutionist" I think it prudent to start using "Mud Person" to refer to individuals who deny science in favor of the Biblical Mud Theory, in which God created human beings from dust which he had made wet with a mist.
Another good would come of the appropriation of "Mud People:" it would lose its coinage with the racist right as a slur for blacks and other dark-skinned people.
Some notion of equity or fairness is often invoked to defend the teaching of the Mud Theory in schools, so it should be with pride that Mud People declare openly their strong belief in their own origins.

Seconded. Rhetoric on both sides masks the genuine arguments - just like "pro-choice" and "pro-life" mask the real abortion debate in emotivism.
I just call them "rubes." I calls a spade a spade, I does.
I must admit, it certainly is a pet peeve of mine when some ignorant rube calls me a "Darwinist." Calling a scientist an "Darwinist" is as stupid as calling a Naval officer a "Magellanist" for believing the Earth is round.
Yes, I believe evolution is the best working theory we've got, because I'm not a totally incompetant uneducated rube. Does that mean I spend my free time polishing my shrine to Charles Darwin? Hell no. It means I have learned to read the pretty words on the pages of those cute little books the grownups are always looking at, and, in so doing, have come across more creative and compelling ideas than, "The world happened because a magical sky man waved His magical lightning bolts."

I just call them people... due to the fact that living here has me surrounded by them, calling them any of my other choice words would probably end me up in jail or the loony bin XD

Someone should inform these twits that there is, in fact, a word for people who use science to explain the world.
Scientists.
But it probably won't catch on.

Well, pro-choice is the most clear, factual and unemotional label in the abortion debate.
Pro-choice people are literally in favor of the right of a woman to choose, even the most ardent anti-abortionist could recognize this, as it is entirely seperate from the argument over whether or not a fetus is a human, &c.

Alright, they shall hence forth be known to me as the Mud People. What a lovely idea :p
The pro-blah terms are both wrong. The Pro-life labes could more accurately be called Pro-Life-In-Misery. The Pro-Choice label is no better. It's not anything one normally associates with choice, but rather nessecity and circumstance.
Calling a spade a spade is never a bad idea, so why not just go with pro- vs. anti-abortion. That's what it's about innit?

Because the people you're talking about aren't necessarily pro abortion. They're not saying people should have abortions. They're saying they should have the right to decide for themselves whether to have an abortion or not.
The chinese government is pro-abortion, not the pro-choicers in the U.S. and elsewhere.

Well.. Unless you're a Nazi I can't really see how that would be justified. Are you for or against free abortions by the way? I'd guess for, as I haven't met people who'd stoop to use such a nasty label on that side, but I'm not at all sure

The scary thing is, the person who used it against me didn't mean it as an insulting term, just as a way to describe my viewpoints...

... Wow.. Well one can only respect opposition like that
Perhaps if you started calling the person Pro-Misery s/he'd take a hint?
Then again, there's not much point in debating with people like that, unless you value high bloodpressure.

I am? An explanation would be nice.
I take it pro-death means pro-choice + pro-death penalty + pro-gun, rather than CLEANSE! PURGE! KILL!
Well, I hope so...
