Clinton: President Bush's Whipping Boy
By William Young

Yet again, I've heard, "Clinton should've done it!" over a current issue. Yes, Bush cut national security funding before 9-11, Bush gave us the largest tax-cut in history (along with the largest deficit), Bush went into Iraq with no exit plan, and Bush cut FEMA before Hurricane Katrina. On all of these issues, Conservatives feel that G.W. isn't responsible, because Clinton should've dealt with them 5 years ago.

In other words, they're saying that the current President is a moron

They imply that G.W. is too incompetent to recognize national security as important. Clinton, however, did not allow a single attack to happen on the U.S. while he was president. Recent reports show that they had some knowledge of Al-Qaeda, and Conservatives' have suddenly switched 360 degrees, retracting their previous statements of, "No one could have expected it," or Condoleeza Rice's argument about how there are "bowels," in the intelligence agencies, or that the agencies simply weren't sharing information. Or at least put them within a partisan context. So, being that Bush is an idiot, he isn't responsible. Clinton, our President of 5 years ago, is responsible.

They imply that G.W. is too incompetent to design his own fiscally responsible budget, to the point that shortly after being elected in 2001, his top two economic advisors who were Republican resigned. Conservatives attribute our record-breaking deficit to other causes, but then again, his top two economic advisors claimed it was going to happen all along. But Bush isn't responsible, because he's a dumbass, right? Clinton, however, was intelligent enough to balance the budget. So, being that Bush is an idiot, he isn't responsible. Clinton, our President of 5 years ago, is responsible.

They imply that G.W. is too incompetent to deal with Iraq appropriately. Instead, just shouting, "Stay the course!" during every press conference and making repeated references to Iraq, even though the majority of both Conservatives and Liberals agree that Iraq wasn't tied to Al-Qaeda. Clinton, however, dealt with Iraq the way that most of us wish we had dealt with it: By continuing economic sanctions, funding anti-Hussein groups, and hoping Hussein dies soon. So, being that Bush is an idiot, he isn't responsible. Clinton, our President of 5 years ago, is responsible.

They imply that G.W. is too incompetent to recognize that the weather isn't controlled by God, and that natural disasters are going to continue to happen, so we'll still need FEMA. You can't expect Bush, a Jesus-humping demagogue, to realize that. The hurricane of 2005 isn't Bush's fault. So, being that Bush is an idiot, he isn't responsible. Clinton, our President of 5 years ago, is responsible.

Is there anything that our President is responsible for, which cannot be blamed on our President of 5 years ago, who, for the last several years of his career, was marked with unpopularity and little congressional support, because of the Monica Lewinsky scandals and a Republican congress? And why can't we blame Clinton's failures on George H.W. Bush?

The Republican Party is not a forward-looking party, but a backwards-looking party. They aren't progressive, but regressive. They don't want to understand morality, they want us to return to and enforce the 1950's morality, of social issues being ignored, sexuality swept under the carpet (or explained through falsehoods), domestic abuse gone unpunished, divorcees shunned, non-Christians persecuted, and homosexuals oppressed. They want our modern, civilized society, to be akin to the Victorianism. And they want to return our society to the economic anarchy which contributed to the global depression and caused the stockmarket crash of 1929. G.W. does not want revolution, but devolution.

Clinton's bridge to the 21st century has become Bush's hard-on for oil. Conservativism has been replaced by Neoconservativism, which absolutely adores big government. And our President has become a puppet, a king of monkeys, who spends far more time at Camp Iwannafuckoff than doing his job. And when he does occassionally crawl out of his hole, he grabs our civil rights by the neck, and attaches a leash named, "National Security." So, society must rise from its knees, shake its fist in the air, and shout, "GET YOUR STINKIN' PAWS OFF ME, YOU DAMN DIRTY APE!"

Technically not "on" the U.S.

And Timothy McVeigh was technically not an "attack" in the traditional sense.

Point is well made, though, Clinton was not immune to terrorism either.
