Does anyone else here read JUXTAPOZ (http://www.juxtapoz.com/)?
I just picked up the latest issue, #58. Its a really good one. I love this magazine to pieces. I'm really surprised by the success its had. When I started reading it (Issue #3) I could only find it in one particular independent bookstore with a really good magazine section. Now I can get it @ Chapeters and evn the local corner store.
Anyone else love this mag? Or hate it for that matter? Sometimes it leans a little too close to the material drawn by teenage boys with a little too much angst, but in the good issues, it really succesfully highlights some pretty amazing art.

Whoops. I must have posted this thread to the NeanderthalStates Forum. My mistake, I thought it was the NationStates Forums.

I used to read it when I worked at the record store, but then I read just about everything. We had a whole wall of magazines. (It was also my free access to Motorsport, Autosport, and Classic and Sports Car. Now I don't get to read them and I feel like a portion of my brain died...)
It was pretty cool, there where a few like it. Sometimes though I really just kinda felt it was weird for the sake of weird. But yeah, it was on the short list for a while (certainly above Vivarium and Shuz...)

As much as I love it, there are times I feel the same way. But us Artistes are kinda pre-disposed to such drama, so just accept it, knowing sometimes that seperating the wheat from the chaff makes the discovery of something good that much more satisfying.

Oh yeah, there definetly was stuff in there to find. There was a bit of a race at the store with things like Juxtapoz, The Onion, and Adbusters where you wanted to be the first to read it so you could be the one to show everybody the weird ass interesting thing you found there.
And then there was that one dumbass who would try to do the same thing with Maxim. Cosmo for dudes...
