I'm gonna guess you are Swedish.

I saw a game when I was in Sweden a few years ago. European hockey is interesting when compared to the NHL.

Ice Hockey is an awesome sport. But I'm Canadian, so I am biased.

Lots of excellent Swedish players in the NHL. Clearly Sweden loves its hockey as much as Canada does. Hope your team beats the Ruskies, bevause its always nice to see the Russians lose. (They do it with such ill-grace)

I play inline hockey (With a few swedes) and follow the NHL and things. Its good fun.

And before you say it, the nearest ice rinks are a full days drive away in one direction or a 3 hour ferry ride then most of a days driving in the other. I'm stuck with inline for the time being.

From my town two plays are in NHL Tomas Holmström and Mattias Öhlund.

Mikael Renberg have play in NHL but now play in Luleå HC is the best team in north of sweden wre i come from.

They have wider ice and enforce the rules on obstruction a lot more, so it's a much faster and higher scoring game. I wish the NHL would learn a bit from them.

Sweden generally puts up Olympic teams that are in contention, but presuming the NHL keeps giving its players time off for the Olympics it will be hard to beat Canada or the USA, although the Czechs did both in '98

Hopefully with the new rules we'll move in that direction. I just can't wait to see the new Buffalo, Sabres line-up take to the ice.

So the trap slowed down the game. It worked and it was a totally legitimate strategy. Then again, I'm used to hearing losers complain.

I would like to think that the new rules will change things. My worry is that the rules won't be enforced consistently, especially in the playoffs when it matters.

And the trap will still exist anyway. It may be a little less effective but it will still probably be the dominant defensive style.

I guess you've seen it a few times in the past several years, then. Homer's been on all three Stanley Cup winning Wings teams.

It has nothing to with losing. It made the game boring to watch, thats all there is to it for me. Actually, the NJ Devils organisation is top notch. I'm sure they'll find other strategies to use that will be as much or almost as effective. Just not as bloody slow and boring. To me, how a game is won is as much and sometimes more important than who is doing the winning. I just love to see good, quality hockey being played.
