Judges Gone Wild

The sound you just heard is that of our Founding Fathers spinning in their respective graves.

In MN, an appellate court ruled that the mere existence of encryption software on your computer is evidence of intent to commit a crime.

In IN, a judge forbid a divorced Wiccan couple from exposing their child to non-mainstream religious beliefs and rituals.

Yep. The judges we have right now are power hungry cretins with little to no respect for individuals and often the concept of individuality.
We have conservative activist judges, liberal activist judges, Christian activist judges, environmental activist judges etc…
What ever happened to impartial egalitarian judges? *misses Earl Warren*

i was going to put a more inflammatory title (ie add in the USA) but decided not to cause everyone could see where it was from...

Im just happy i dont live there - and hope that either it (both?) got overturned... or none of you (NSers reading this thread) live in MN (or you deleted your encryption software :-) )

Judges are no more wise than any other citizen, they just have more political stroke.

Let's not forget the Australian Cheif Justice, who made ruling on torte law based upon fake American precedents...

I do … and this was hashed over a few months ago

I personally dislike the ruling having a masters in security but as it has been stated before it was not direct evidence that he committed a crime it was much like owning a shovel and having it with you may be seen as displaying a possible motivation to burry a body

It is more character intent then anything

But I am sure Cat tribe will come back with this he effectively argued the legal nuances better then me (if I remember right)
