Anorexia: Natural Selection for Spoiled Spineless Kids.

Anorexia is a great thing in America. We shouldn't fight it at all. It's a good thiing. (Of course, an exception is made of Anorexia that is genetic. We'll help those guys and gals.)

The only kids who get Anorexia, are the spineless spoiled idiotic kids, who feel a need to conform to be popular, even at the cost of their own health. Personally, we don't want these people. They're wasting resources. SMART PEOPLE KNOW YOU HAVE TO EAT. They're so spineless, they'd do anything just be "with the crowd."

We don't need these people. We shouldn't have these people. Anorexia is a GOD-SEND, as it eliminates these people, without us resorting to full-blown genocide, and eventually only the REALLY stupid will die, because when they're in critical condition and they still ain't eating...well...we REALLY REALLY REALLY don't want you. Anorexia isn't a mental illness. It's a blessing. It allows us to elimiate the stupid from our gene pool.

I'm sorry if this was offensive to people, but I'm just stating a fact.

When you're in critical condition, and you still don't eat, you're REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY stupid.

And if anyone who's not a total dumbass has anorexia, they'll eventually stop when they're in mortal danger. If they still don't, they're REALLY stupid. Just idiotic.

I also say, if this offended people, I apoogize, I just wanted to put in my view of the subject for Anorexia. This is just an issue I have an extreme view on. If you disagree with me, I can respect your opinion on it, and I hope that you will respect mine.

While that is very blunt and straight to the point, it is rather callous.

Now then, I wouldn't say that it is necessary a god-send, but, that natural selection bit... I would have to agree with you on the principle of the idea, even if not your wording. There are just some people who are too stupid to be able to survive, and so...

Yeah, it was blunt and callous, but sometimes being Blunt and Callous is the best way to get a message through. And that was what I was trying to do.

True and you did it rather tactfully, which is always important when being blunt.

They'll get over it eventually and most will lead normal and productive lives once they become more mature. We should definitely support the health of anorexics and get some sense into them.

I do not have anorexia, nor do I have first-hand experience with the condition, yet I have read a little bit on the subject.
I think that where you may have erred is in assuming that anorexia is a choice, and not a psychological condition. You say "anoriexia is not a mental illness" but you do not provide any reasoning or proof behind this. I agree, that for some people, in some cases, eating disorders are voluntary, and done to consciously fit in with one's peers. However, for the vast majority of actual sufferers, anorexia is not a decision, but an ingrained, automatic response to correct their skewed perspective of their body image. These people are not stupid, I'd say, but suffering from a mental illness, stemming from the intense pressures that our culture of vanity and shallowness exudes.

Wouldn't they be CONSERVING resources in NOT eating.....?

I gotta say, as a child model and somebody who was part of the "in" crowd, my only experiences with anorexia and/or bulemia were that they hit more the kids on the outside -- especially, in our cases, the ones who weren't even remotely trying to be part of our group. Usually the ones who made fun of our group. So did we mock them when we found out they were sick? .....Hell yes! BUT, we were young, and cocky......and I do feel bad about it now.

But still.....you can't claim it's all a bunch of spoiled idiots who want to be popular, because damn, WE were the spoiled popular kids.

I still say I'm not an idiot, though. I'm smarter than the average bear.

Most anorexic people aren't just dumbasses, and anyone that says so doesn't really understand the issue. It's similar to depression. You can tell a deppressed person to get happy, but it doesn't usually work that way. Similarly, anorexia is a mental illness, not just deliberate starvation.

Moreover, it isn't about eating (well, the true cases of anoreia and bulemia aren't) Usually, they are traced back to control issues. A person feels like there is nothing they can control in the world, so they choose to control food.

So they 'control' food by puking it out? Wouldn't it be more fulfilling if the crap came out the other way? That's like, major ownage, forcing something to go through your digestive tract and out the anus. WHAT NOW, MR. KRISPY KREME?!!!!!1 You don't look so tough now that you're a brown, shriveled up turd.

I agree with you 100%. Anyone who is anorexic can just fall over and drop dead for all I care. Huh, funny how they are all girls too (with the exception of jockies who have a halfway decent reason for doing it). Whoever has classified it as a disorder is stupid.

if you're obese, society hates you. you're repulsive, and you should die.

clearly the only obese people eat constantly and never exercise at all. it has nothing to do with genetics, and there's absolutely no possibility of hormonal disorders affecting one's weight.

EXACTLY! And Nationstates is much healthier, because if you lose track of time, you can forget to eat. Perfect weight loss. As long as you don't excercise too much.

And I'd have to say that you are pretty damn wrong OP.

Have you ever met someone with Aneroxia Nervosa? Do you understand what it is? It sure as hell isn't something that's easy to quit doing, or is voluntary. It's a fucking compulsion. Something that a non-conscious part of the mind makes people do. I've known people who have been afflicted by Anorexia, and they certainly aren't doing it out of vanity.

This is extremely offensive to me and to many others. I personally have a lingering eating disorder (and actually, I am a guy) and it is hell. It came, pretty much, out of nowhere—no media, fashion or sports involvement (I hate sports, don't watch TV or listen to the radio or read [many] magazines [at least none with any mention of weight loss or malnourished supermodels], and don't give a damn about fashion). I know now that I was actually underweight when it first began, which was several years ago. It started out with an almost obsessive-compulsive behavior in which I tried to see how little I could eat without my parents noticing, as a sort of game, actually, at the time. When I realized how much lighter I felt after a while, it became an obsession with losing weight. It wasn't that I felt too fat so much as that I felt I was too substantial. I didn't like leaving footprints. I didn't like leaving a mark at all. To this day I am OCD about purging my History, chache, and every other record over which I have control.

Anorexia is a great thing in America. We shouldn't fight it at all. It's a good thiing. (Of course, an exception is made of Anorexia that is genetic. We'll help those guys and gals.)
Wow, how considerate. Anorexia that is genetic? Never heard of a case. Of course, it could be inherited, but how can you tell?

The only kids who get Anorexia, are the spineless spoiled idiotic kids, who feel a need to conform to be popular, even at the cost of their own health. Personally, we don't want these people. They're wasting resources. SMART PEOPLE KNOW YOU HAVE TO EAT. They're so spineless, they'd do anything just be "with the crowd."

Not true. I hate following along with the crowd. My objective in life is to stand out. I don't want to be popular, either; I'm content with being the freaky nerdy gay boy who nobody talks to.

We don't need these people. We shouldn't have these people.
We shouldn't have these people, correct. Because IT IS A DISEASE. And a human-induced one, too.

I don't mean to brag, but I know for a fact that I am not stupid, seeing as I have been in the Gifted program all my life, have skipped a grade, and went for a year to a private school for gifted children. My parents also saw fit to let me know my own IQ, and believe me, I am not stupid. I have a life-threatening disease. This is a mental disease. I am ILL. I need to get better. Okay?

I'm sorry if this was offensive to people, but I'm just stating a fact.
I see no fact here.

When you're in critical condition, and you still don't eat, you're REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY stupid.
Or perhaps REALLY REALL REALLY REALLY REALLY ill, genius.

And if anyone who's not a total dumbass has anorexia, they'll eventually stop when they're in mortal danger. If they still don't, they're REALLY stupid. Just idiotic.
This is getting REALLY redundant, have you noticed? As previously stated, I am not stupid.

I also say, if this offended people, I apoogize, I just wanted to put in my view of the subject for Anorexia. This is just an issue I have an extreme view on. If you disagree with me, I can respect your opinion on it, and I hope that you will respect mine.
I disagree, having first-hand experience, and hope you can comprehend what I am going through. I have a disease. I have, in fact, an illness that puts me, in its worse phases, in a constant state of mortal danger. It is not an illusion. It is not a trend. I'm sick and I need to get better, look at it that way.
