Another Question to Conservatives...

Unabashed Greed
01-09-2005, 01:23
Why do you people on the rights side of the political spectrum seem to desire and cultivate the image of mean spirited, zealotous, contrarians? Why is it that every conservative I see online always has some flippant jerky thing to say about "liberal" this, and "Dummycrat," that? Why is it that the right (i.e. direction, or handedness, not related to any assumtion of "correctness") seems to be overloaded with vitriloic, flag waving, jerks, desperatly trying to pin our problems on Clinton?

Why does one side always have to attack the other to begin with, when we should be working together to cure societies ailments?

...And don't tell me it's human nature.

I hope the subtle irony of this post will not be lost on anyone.

I agree with you 100%. I think it's bullshit how the US is so split, though I may seem biased ;) What really bothers me is how a sizable group of people can, in large part, be so... mean. There's really no other word for it.

Whenever I see political fights (especially here) it's always one of the religio-nuts or staunch conservatives starting it on a thread, or picking it by starting a thread.

It just boggles me, heh.

EDIT: BTW don't take this as the "first punch" in yet another fight. I just want to understand why this thing SEEMS to be so pervasive.

On behalf of the American left, I apologize for this, knowing full well that we left-leaning people, (that's what we all are, people) have posted Repugnicans, facists, and any number of other nasty vitriolic flames at the right.

The irony is recognized.

I image its because you deal with them in this generalized contrived fashion with which we see displayed here.
First you lump ALL conservatives into a single catergory--I am offended immediately.
Your question is rendered "flippant" as you put it--
When you continue with this blanket generalization by claiming that conservatives attempt to blame all their problems on President Clinton--as if all conservatives agreed on what the problems are.

Ahh, a slant against patriotism--"Flag waving" yes God forbid a person be a patriot.

It would seem to me you merely get what enter into the conversation already assuming will happen.

Why did you group liberals, anarcho-capitalist, and others with conservatives on the "right" side of your political spectrum. Also, be specific which sort of conservative are you talking about? I know, but this is an internation forum....or so the myth goes.

Oh dear me, those sinning homos now have an agenda? Who'd have thunk it? And those blasted baby-killing liberals... I never for a moment would't thought they they were behind all the wrong in the world! :D

As you assume I'm being sarcastic, I hope you are as well, because I am quite tired of the conservative and liberal stereostypes.

Not to mention trolls who faithfully argue that the stereotypes of one side are in all cases true, while the other side is tragically slandered without reason. Starting a thread with no other subject or information other than 'liberals r stoopid' certainly qualifies.

(or 'conservatives r stoopid', as this one apparently is. One upside is, there are many opportunities for satire. :D )

Those conservatives offended by the original poster's post: he said "seems." That means that he isn't poking at anyone, or insulting, or even being defensive, HE IS ONLY STATING HIS INTERPRETATION OF WHAT HE SEES. He is innocent!

And it may seem like one side really is stupid. And they are. When you get large numbers of any one way of thinking, they forget to ask why they think the way they do, but they just continue thinking that way. So a large mob of neocons will constantly bash clinton, without knowing why. Both sides have good arguments, but republican arguments won't be found by going to Georgia, and dem arguments won't be found by going to Portland. Find the one liberal in Idaho and talk to him/her, he/she will tell you the real arguments. And likewise for a neocon in Portland.

That is contrived thinking.

So then we are to assume because he uses the word "seems" that he is so mentally dull that the possibility he has encountered not even a snapshot of a snapshot of a percent of the OVER ALL conservative community (only online as per his statement) never entered his mind, and that he as well is so dull as to believe that over 50% of United States population(over 50% of the population identifies themselves as conservative in some way-and he was not specific)...that over 50% of the United States population fits into this neat little bag he "seems" to think exists--that is justification for claiming his post was not insulting? WOW.

Because here, allow me to apply your logic to a couple of statements and you tell me if the word "seems" saves it from insulting and offensive, ok here we go:
It "seems" to me that in my experience all African Americans are mentally inferior to Caucasians.

It "seems" to me Jews never really did suffer a holocust and all the whining is for nothing, because it "seems" to me there is no evidence to support this supposed injustice.

It "seems" to me poverty and disease are the perfect cure for over population.

It "seems" to me Hispanics all suffer from mild retardation.

It "seems" to me anyone who thinks the word "seems" removes the insult from an offensive statement is obviously a complete idiot who should not be allowed to speak publically, ever.

Wow, yeah I see it now.
The word "seems" does in fact not remove any malice from an obviously malicious statement, thanks for playing though.
