The Greatest Energy Idea Ever

Here's my radical conservative, and possibly truly American idea to solve the energy crisis that might make Liberals happy:

First, we disown Alaska. So they'll be all alone, and then we invade and make them a territory. Then we'll drill it for oil. The Conservatives are happy because we'll have oil. The Liberals might be happy since we're not destroying our own nation.

Thoughts?

I was hoping this "great" idea would have some way of reducing oil consumption.

Why not just invade Alberta? Then the Canadian conservatives (who mostly live in Alberta) would be happy because they'd be part of the US, and the Canadian liberals would be happy because they'd no longer have to put up with conservative Alberta.

They don't get a vote; don't you know anything about American democracy?

Environmentalists and tree-huggers get to vote, it's just that animals don't. Although, if the environmentalists get their way, that may change.

This thread is obviously intended to be silly, so take this with a grain of salt.

But anyway, invading Alberta is a much better idea. It would require much less political reorganization. Plus, conservatives might not be that happy afterall because Alaska's three electoral votes are solidly republican, and both of its U.S. Senators are solidly conservative, so siphoning off Alaska would impact their power in Washington.

Oh, that's what you think of my ideas? Just some joke? (runs away sobbing)
