They did, they just weren't willing to pay more than they sold him for.

HAHA I'm a newcastle fan and my team kicks ass. we now have the capacity to total over 20 goals for the season. still we're better than sunderland. Liverpool have only themselves to blame. They would do anything to sign owen, except bid for him.

As a Liverpool supporter, I don't really give a damn. As I seemed to recall, Mickey left because he wanted to win trophies with Real. Ironically, He didn't get to play much in Real and Liverpool went on to win the biggest club trophy in Europe.
As a second thought as well, do you think Mickey would really be going to Newcastle if this wasn't a world cup year and questions being raised about his spot in the lineup?

Well, you certainly need someone to score a goal for you, but I have my doubts as to whether Owen will do the job. Oh, and you say Sunderland are worse than Newcastle, even though Sunderland's goal difference is -5 to your -6? That to me shows they are performing better than Newcastle, I mean, atleast they've scored...twice.

Rooney's a Chav.
Still, you can't have everything though. And please don't forget C. Ronaldo, RVN, Scholes, Ferdinand and Heinze, all better players than Owen by an awfully long way.

Manchester.
*Shakes head*
im not so sure about Scholes or Ronaldo(Hate the bastard).
though comparing him to some of those players is a bit unfair of course playing for Liverpool would put him down the evolutionary chain.

Ronaldo is absolutely, irrefutably brilliant, just remarkably arrogant and effeminate. And the Liverpool thing is true, he should have come to United 5 years ago.

I wont argue with either of those statements.
