Tell me something...why do you feel superior to me for the stupidest reasons?
Obviously this is not a general attack on everyone that fits this description. Those that find themselves guilty of my accusations should figure it out for themselves, am I not right?
Anyway. I'm really getting tired of being called immorral and heartless and even barbaric for the following reasons:
- Supporting abortions
- Supporting the death penalty
- Being against gun illegalization
- Praising civilians arming themselves to protect their property from looters
- Defending police when they accidently shoot innocents (Such as the L.A. incident last month/earlier this month)
I mean honestly. I am not a heartless person. I am not immorral. I have standards. I have morals. I (would if I could) vote Democrat.
Where do people get off calling me a barbaric heartless jerk who deserves to die because I'm a person without morals?
Just because YOUR opinions differ from mine, just because YOU were raised in a different enviornment than I, just because YOU were exposed to things different than I, just because YOU blah blah blah...I don't care, you have no right to call me what I most certainly am not. You are not holier than me. You are not superior to me. You do not have more morals than me.
You do have different standards. But not more morals.
(I actually meant to post this topic a couple weeks ago. Never got around to it. Ahh well.)
Well it seems that you are just pro-death in general... maybe that's why? :p
Well, if people find themselves superior to you based on solely on that, you have nothing to worry about. :)
Is it at all possible you are mistaking superiority to simple distaste?

I'd say you have your head screwed on straight. Although we disagree on abortions, that's a whole nother thread that I won't go into here lest I commit thread piracy.

I often blame Christianity for this but maybe it is just a fringe group that calls themself Christian.
It seems some people look at a person and believe they can interprit that is in that persons heart.
So as he believes this or that so he must be evil, or he practiceses this or that so he must be evil or he is attracted to this or that so he must be evil.
It has been said. No one can know the the heart of another. I believe that line of reasoning to be true.
The kind of Gossip I don't like is the kind that makes judgments on the hearts of others. I'll let other gossip go but I feel compelled to say something when it gets nasty.

Oh yeah!
Pssst Colodia, any reason a person has for feeling superior to someone else is stupid.

I don't feel superior to you, I just am. Can't help it ;)
Ok honestly, I rarely feel superior to anyone, and barring extreme circumstances, feeling superior to someone else based on a forum conversation strikes me as being slightly retarded.
Politically, we disagree on the following:
- Praising civilians arming themselves to protect their property from looters
- Defending police when they accidently shoot innocents (Such as the L.A. incident last month/earlier this month)
But I doubt that makes me better or you worse. Chill mate, don't get worked up over stuff in a forum (not that I don't).

There will always be people that have a different point of view then you when you say you support the right for a woman to have an abortion. There will always be someone for it and against it.

Colodia; humans have a deep-seated need to feel superior to anyone who thinks differently than they. It is especially pronounced in humans who show no evidence of adequacy, let alone superiority.

you have no right to call me what I most certainly am not.
Actually, people do. They may not be right, but they can.
You are not holier than me. You are not superior to me. You do not have more morals than me.
The first two are a matter of opinion. Some people obviously hold those as opinions. You can't change that any more then they can change your opinions, so don't sweat it. The third could be proven, I suppose, but who'd bother? I think people are trying to tell you that they have 'better' or 'more correct' morals then you.
Don't let people who lecture you on your morals get under your skin. Think of it this way: they feel the same about your feelings on abortion as you do about some foreign country's leader feeling that slaughtering an inconvenient minority would be a good idea. You don't think you're any more wrong about your opinion of that leader then a person on a moral high horse does about their opinion of you. Maybe that's a bad example, but at least it shows that some people will not be able to reconcile with those who disagree with them on the things they hold most dear.

You have a few rare talents that will always rub someone the wrong way. Wit. Cleverness. Sarcasm. That ability to take a step sideways and view a situation objectively... I say cultivate those people who appreciate you for what you are, and develop a thicker skin for the rest.

Colodia, don't let it bother you: these statements constitute a collossal cop-out every time. When people say this to me I just smile and take it because I know they're grasping for straws. I know they're beyond any attempt to respond to me rationally because they can't, the only defense they have left in such a situation is to fling emotional proclimations at you and hope for the best.
I get things like "You're so cruel/heartless/etc" all the time and it is seldom, if ever, accompanied with a reason why I'm wrong anyway. Don't take it as an insult, take it as white flag, because that's what it is.

most people hold that moral is defined by holding to what it right and rejecting what is wrong. Morals are changable depending on the group. culture, or country you are in. They are not the basic rules that some would have you to believe.
If someone says you are immoral, what they really mean is that you don't hold the same morals as they do. It would be just as easy for you to say the same thing to them, and it would be true, they don't hold to the same moral rules that you do, making them immoral in your eyes.
I don't feel superior to you. I do however find the death penalty unethical and immoral, and find that this rubs off on its supporters in certain ways, like disregard for human life tends to do.
I don't call people immoral, since I have been called that so many times by now for who I am, that I hardly even notice it any more.

Well considering being called a barbarian for supporting the death penalty and it serves as practically the only argument used on me in debates, I kind of worry about how people think of themselves as higher than others for a mere opinion. It renders 21st century civilization pointless if we're doing nothing but pointing fingers and defining them as "barbarians".
EDIT: I really can't possibly reply to EVERY statement made while I was asleep and at water polo practice! So no hard feelings, mmkay? ;)
