Judy Garland's Famed Ruby Slippers Stolen

GRAND RAPIDS, Minn. - A pair of ruby slippers worn by Judy Garland in "The Wizard of Oz" and insured for $1 million is missing from a Grand Rapids museum.



Police Chief Leigh Serfling said the slippers were stolen late Saturday or early Sunday. Someone entered the museum through a window and broke into the small display case holding the slippers.

When reached for comment the Wicked Witch of the West replied, "That is a lie, I have no further need for those old, tattered slippers. Now leave me alone or I will turn you into a flying monk!"

There are gonna be a few campy thieves out there tonight.

I heard about this on the news and promptly cracked up. First, why would you bother stealing them? Yes, they're props from a popular movie, but wouldn't it be more profitable to steal something else? Perhaps the thieves lacked the skills. Second, there're three other pairs, from what I heard.
