I totally agree. Apart from one or two of the acoustic songs, the newest album is nothing special at all.

Then again, the Foos have never quite managed to equal The Colour And The Shape.

seen a couple of people mention some of the same bands as me - but I seem to like much softer indie then everyone else...

I feel like such a girlie!!! ;)

I'm really surprised at the responses this thread has gotten - it seems like only the people who like the kinds of music that have mainly been mentioned (I don't even know what to call it, I guess heavy metal, punk, stuff like that) have posted their lists... I was happy to read your list, finally someone who liked at least some of the same stuff as me ;) (does that make me a girlie?)

My favorite band would have to be Belle & Sebastian, and I like the side projects too like Looper and Gentle Waves (happy to see you list them).

Except those are the only indie-pop bands I've really been able to get into, I've listened to a lot of stuff on your list and while it's not bad, I just could never get into them like I did with Belle & Sebastian. I mean I like Camera Obscura too, but I don't like all their stuff.

Anyway, here's some more things I like beyond what I mentioned above (we have to expand "bands" into "bands and people who sometimes play with bands"):

Donovan
Bob Dylan
Neil Young
David Bowie
Ryuichi Sakamoto
Kraftwerk
2raumwohne
Joan Baez
The Band
Velvet Underground (well I used to like them a lot, I pretty much lost interest in them but don't deny that they have some great stuff)

Traveling Wilburys
Tom Petty
Isobel Campbell (okay so she formed Gentle Waves who I already mentioned, so what, she has solo stuff too)

The tune 'Boots & Braces' is from their pre-racist period.

They were actually a pretty good Garagey/R'n'B/Punk band for a short period of time before most of the original members left and the rot set in. The LP All Skrewed Up remains a minor classic and is more than a touch reminiscent of the Jam's first LP.

Fun trivia fact: Mark Radcliffe (yeah, that Mark Radcliffe) once drummed for Skrewdriver.

Not meaning to confuse issues... yes, Martin Atkins IS Pigface - in as much as he is the only 'required' member for it to 'be' Pigface.

Not to say that all Martin Atkins projects are Pigface projects, of course... the Ritalin side project is just a delicious crossbreed between Atkins and Ogre.

I travelled in the opposite direction to you... the first place I encountered the Swans was through Pigface, and then, later, the Angels of Light.

The version I heard about the "Hits,Tits, Lips" thing, is that it was based on an old Silverfish T-shirt?
