Hitler not born?
I'm sure the idea has gone through peoples heads before, but what would the world look like without Hitler? Would it be better, worse?

An interesting question. If Hitler never existed, maybe Stalin or Mussolini would have taken the 'centre stage'???

Better. The British Empire would have had a chance to re-consolidate after the Great War and the Pax Britannica could have been established once again, leading to peace and prosperity for all.

thats an interesting question. Hitler poses an image in most peoples mind as unadulterated evil, and as such is a role model to some and a reason not to let power go to your head for others. This brings to the resolution that in all probability, there would have been someone else by now that would have risen instead of him. But, without ww2 there would (maybe) not have been not such a rush for an a bomb and thus there might have been a real war instead of the imaginery "cold" on between the us and russia, and as both were so powerful, it could hace lasted decades and destroyed the world when one side finally discovered the a bomb. confusing, no? :headbang:
Not much different, people like hitler are a disease, if a country with huge potential is poor and being treated like shit (ie germany in 20's - 30's ) a leader will arrise, and mainly , these people solve the problem, but add a million new ones.
Hitler soved the economic , prestige and employment trouble, but braught with him ww2, there are 100's, if not thousends of people like hitler alive today in every country, and if they get there oppertunity, theyll take it.
So, no not different, unless the other person who was to take hitlers place was a military thinker, then germany would of won ww2....... so, hmmm, ive just contradicted myself, lol.

See I was thinking that even if there was no Hitler, with the situation in Germany in the 1920's and 1930's it seems even without Hitler that the Nazis or some equally radical group still would have gained power. What if it was someone a little less psychopatic? Goebbles or Himmler maybe? Would the same thing of happened to the Jews?

THe world would be the same. Even if Hitler was not born, there would still be other evil dictators like him. A world without Hitler does not mean a world without racism, facism, anti-semitism, and evil dictators.

i doubt that the populations of india or china would agree with your assessment of "peace and prosperity for all." british imperialism was just as abhorrent as american imperialism. both were motivated by the same things and justified by the same lies.

I think similar things would have happened in Germany. I think it would have taken longer to get to get that way. That would mean people would have accepted what had happened. If you remember many world leaders liked the main ideas of fascism. I also believe that Germany may not have annexed any other nations and Germany would have been left to do whatever it was doing at the time. There is a huge possibility that Germany wouldn't have killed people of different religions, race, or those who did not agree with them. Seeing as the people of Germany elected the Nazis it is possible that Germany could have gotten to were it was anyways. The main difference I see is that Germeny would have taken longer to get that way, with slower more subtle changes, making it more likely for the rest of the world to accept it.

The atomic age would have started later.
Avionics would be at least 20 years behind what it is now.
Automation would be farther behind.
Computer technology would be in the 80's, at least.
Communications tech. would be ten years behind.
Niel's shoeprint wouldn't be on the moon.
No ICBM's. (good/bad?)
I know there's more, but i'm tired.
its called Command and Conquer Red Alert its based if hitler never existedtheres sequel Red Alert 2(PC game)
What about all the people hitler caused to die? And all their non-existant children? Of of them could have invneted something cool like a cure for cancer. Or one of them could have been an evil genius. And then what about all the people that would have killed or saved? A lot of things would be different.

I think 'Don't know' is the best possible answer. Fact is, we really don't have a clue what could have happened. Any efforts to determine the likeliest route history could have taken would be mere conjecture. What if Hitler hadn't been born? Well, what if another person did the same things he did to take control of Germany and started a world war himself? Then we'd be in the same place we are now.

No. Hitler was just one man that got lucky. There were thousands of others like him willing to take his place.
Had Hitler not come to the stage, it is possible that Germany could have fell into Communism. It would have been more destructive and longer-lasting than the National Socialist administration, with unseen consequences. The effects of World War Two, especially the Holocaust, showed the world that those events must not happen again. The rush to create the atomic bomb outlawed war between First World Nations in the Western World through mutually assured destruction. Had there been no German aggression, it is possible the Soviet Union might still exist, that there could have been more inhumanity, more purges, more gulags, more genocides. Germany would have remained an impoverished state in central Europe, a legacy of the brutal Versailles Treaty imposed upon it. There would have been another Hitler someday and sometime... the German people needed revenge.

Of course it would have been better as Europe would be much more culturally diverse with many millions more Jews and Gypsies, people the Nazis tried to destroy. Without Nazism there is also a good chance that the Communist Party could have came to power in Germany and in that case the Republicans would probably have won the Spanish Civil War (as the fascists would have got no Nazi help). These events could then have brought about an unstoppable movement towards socialism throughout Europe and the rest of the world which would create a more peaceful and prosperous society for everyone.

Well, since Hitler affected history so hard, it'd be very difficult to tell what would've happened if he had never existed in the first place, or was, for example, killed in World War I. For instance, the Red Alert games' storyline suggests that he never existed (Einstein killed him by going back in time to 1926 and shaking his hand, making him vanish with that freaky chrono beam), and then history took a completely different course. The USSR took the "evil" side in an alternate WWII with additional technological advances, such as jets and nuclear missiles. Then it further deviated by introducing another Allied-Soviet war around 1963 in Red Alert 2.
Anyway, I think it's impossible to assert whether the world would be better or not should he had never existed... =/
