What do you do in life?

Hemingsoft

What does everyone do for a living? For the younger ones, what do you want to do? And I'm sure this has been done before, I just wasn't around.

All through high school I wanted to be a physicist and currently am a student at the University of Cincinnati studying physics and working for my professor doing transmission line analysis as prep work for our Single Electron Transisitor research.

Please let me, and everyone else, know.

Studied Philosophy and Scholastic Philosophy at undergraduate level, and then Continental Philosophy at post-grad level, thus, of course and entirely logically, I am now trying to earn my daily crust as a sound engineer. Its something I'd wanted to do since I was about 17, and have been dabbling in it for years now, but only recently started making a couple of shekels off it.

1) Product Support and Development for a company that makes software for Colleges and Universities.

2) Freelance Web Designer/Developer

3) Drummer for daymonthyear (http://www.daymonthyear.net)

4) Dad

I think that covers it...I sleep sometimes too, but that is more of a hobby that I do when I have time.

Ideally, I'd be a writer and/or play in a band. Unfortunately, it's difficult to make a living doing these things. More unfortunately, there isn't anything that would give me a regular paycheck that I'd want to do.

However, I do have a job working nights in a grocery store. And I currently attend classes at a local community college, though the plan is to move up to a better university after a while.

Sculpture Restoration Specialist. I restore bronze and other metal sculptures to their former glory. Mostly this invovlves monuments of variuos types., plus some public art pieces, and peices in private and corporate collections. Usually I just remove dirt and grime, apply a few touch ups of the patina (which gives bronze sculptures their colour) and refinish them with protect coats of various laqeurs and varnishes.

Incredibly interesting and challenging and also incredibly boring and fiendishly difficult. Occassionally comical ("What do you mean it'll cost me 5K?"...."Well, its only going to increase the value by 200%, I can see why your family calls you a cheap ass....Sir.)

EDIT: I also do lost wax casting and sand casting of sculptures and, once every motnh or so, the large the shells/caps of large warheads. Much more excitong, but much more dangerous and filthy/sweaty)

Jocabia-I'd probably buy you a beer. I've no beef with you and probably never will. You seem like a decent, affable guy with a good sense of humor. I never look for trouble anyway.

I reflect the whole thing right back at you. It's my experience that the guys who know what to do are rarely out there looking to do it. I'd definitely buy you a couple of beers. We could swap stories about what Sinuhue whispers to us in Telegrams.

I hold a Master's Degree in Political Science. I have worked on many provincial and federal elections for the Liberal Party of Canada.

I was going for my Ph.D, however Zeppistan got me pregnant and so that has been put on hold as I raise my children and work for the business that Zep owns and because we're married I own too by default. Which is an IT consultant firm. I hold the title at the moment of "Director of Marketing" as well I do web based consulting within the firm that my husband owns.

One day I would like to retire. Or rule the world. Either would be kewl. ;)

I guess someone has to make the jackhammer fetish films the worlds enjoys so much.

Indeed! Not just jackhammers, mind you. All sorts of power tools and machinery, from your piston to your humble screwdriver.

Definitely. She always balks when it comes down to it, but then, so do I.

I am a Licensed Massage Therapist. I used to work at a day spa where I specialized in Deep Tissue Massage therapy. Basically I got paid nearly $40 an hour to make grown men realize someone my size can make them cry. :D I later started my own business doing seated massage in offices. I had two offices I was working in, in Seattle when I got pregnant and now I'm staying home taking care of kids and trying to raise them to not be little punks. I'm probably not going to go back to work...massage is very hard on the body, and for the amount of money I make since I can really only do it part time, I'd be spending it all on childcare.

Oh my God.

You can massage me and I'll watch your children while you do it.

Can you wear thigh high black leather boots and walk on me?

I teach children with severe emotional and behavioral disabilities. Next job I'll go for something less stressful like the bomb squad. Actually, the kids are usually Ok so long as you remember that they’re mentally ill. Loose sight of that fact and you'll be banging your head against the wall just like your students.

Nope, the hanky is definitely for tears...

See I always had guys like you come in and think I couldn't give them a good massage because I'm so small. They always ended up being the ones to tip me really well because they left the spa feeling like boneless chickens.

Believe me, when I put my elbow in your back (which is where your Levator Scapulae is) if you don't cry, you'll want to.

By the way, I also know the trigger point to deflate an erection. So I can giveth, AND I can taketh away as necessary.

I seriously hope that you don't consider my former profession to allow things like wearing thigh high boots...

I had to go to school, I had to pass exams from my school and from the state health department and I have to be regulated now by said health department and by associations for my profession. I have to carry a current state license in order to practice and I'm required to do continuing education every year. All so I can have people come in and ask if I do genital massage. Grrrrrrr.
