I'd simply like to say that Hoggard and Giles saved the day. What a truly textbook cover drive from Hoggard; great cricket!
Any opinions on Ponting's and Katich's fines? Do you think Ponting (and Oz) have a point about England's use of sub fielders, or is it just a bit of whinging from a losing side unused to losing?
I'm dead curious.
And oh yes, Glamorgan have broken their championship duck. Yay!

Congrats, guys. But when the hell did England manage to get so good? Granted, our (the Australian) team is getting on a bit now, but damn, the English have gotten bloody good since the last series.
Still, there's one more test to play and you guys have to win outright, not just draw the series to take the Ashes. I just hope our guys pull their fingers out of their asses and start playing some decent cricket.

The english haven't got that much better, but the australians have got a lot worse.
Really, this has been on of the most exciting and intense series that I've ever seen. I'm not from either country and I was up until 5.30am watching.
The quality of cricket has been sorely lacking. How many centuries have their been? How many batsmen have been throwing their wicket away in stupid ways? How many no-balls have been bowled? How the hell did England nearly lose that last match? The umpiring has been shocking, especially Katich's lbw yesterday. Ponting got run out taking a stupid run and then tried to blame fielding subs.
Sure it's been exciting, but both teams seem to look like they're fighting to lose sometimes.

I don't know. The poms have been doing pretty well against everyone lately. Though admittedly, that last match wasn't a good example of either side's best.
But you're right, the Aussie team is a lot crappier than they have been. Hayden, frankly, needs to go. He's well past his best now. An average of what.. around 23? just isn't good enough for a first class, top order batsman. He's played some truly awesome cricket in the past, but he just doesn't seem to be capable of it anymore.
Surprisingly, Warne and Lee have been pretty good with the bat in this series. But you know there's something wrong when the tail-enders seem to be carrying the side in run making department.

Oz needs to win the last game to square the series and thus retain the Ashes. As long as England draws with Oz at the Oval, the series will remain 2-1 and England brings back the Ashes. Mind you, it'd be nice of England wins it. Then it's 3-1 and no question.

English circket will be back where it should be, on top of the world.

When one of your bowlers is your top scorer you need to worry. Lee is the only one who scored in the first innings. You Australians need to improve,
But yes GO ENGLAND. WE GONNA WIN THE ASHES IF I HAVE TO LOCK ALL THE AUSSIES IN A SMALL ROOM AND TIE THEM UP FOR FIVE DAYS.

That's just slanderous. Baseball is a game played with bat and ball primarily in America, Australia and Japan.
Cricket is God's Own Game, and proof that He exists and love us.
