I live in the coal region of PA and it seems the history of this small area is only known by those who live here.. From the foods to the traditions. Local beers and sayings. Im surprised that not even a friend of mine that lives in Ireland knows about the Molly Maguires.

So what do you know about the coal region? Ever hear of bleenies or yuengling? So much history, and no one knows about it..

Heres a website about what Im talking about www.coalregion.com

I know people who live and work in the coal region of Collie in WA have recently gotten very angry with the government over its move to scrap plans for a new coal power plant and develop a gas one instead.

Ever hear of bleenies or yuengling?

It's a shame I don't always read entire posts.

I know mostly about the steel industry in the area. Not too much about the coal mining... Yet.

The coal region of Pennsylvania, i.e., the Allegheny/Monongahela river valley area. Pittsburgh, for simpler terms.
