Baseball r0x0rs!

Seriously, I've always loved baseball. I grew up playing in little leagues, and learned to love it. I'll admit playing is more fun than watching, but at the professional level there's just so much depth to the game that watching it can be a real treat. Sure, it may not have the non-stop pace of soccer or basketball, but those two are basically the same: move the ball down the field/court, try to put it in a goal, repeat going the other way. The only variation is how spectacular the plays are.

So, yeah, it's baseball followed by American football.

watching ice hockey is awesome, as is rugby (used to play at school but was never that good)

other than that i love kayaking, used to be good at archery, used to be good at swimming (if that counts) and sailing but never get to do them anymore :(
nowadays the only "sport" i actually do is bowling :P

Baseball is, of course, the greatest sport ever to grace everyone's life. All other sports could wither and die and baseball would sustain the world. Anyone who thinks baseball has no merit simply does not understand baseball.

American Football is fun to both play and watch.

Hockey is great simply by conception: Hey, you, here's a stick, there's some ice, go get that rock into that net. Pummel anyone who gets in the way.

Boxing is the sweet science.

I could do without the others.

I grew up with cricket as my summer code (I'm still a huge fan) but to be fair, unlike shitty american football, I have found myself watching baseball and being somewhat enthralled by it. This is despite the fact that I don't know what counts as a good (insert random stat about player here) when the commentators start saying random numbers. Yay baseball.

I do like cricket, though I don't understand it. I've been told, though, that nobody really does. ;) It's fun to watch, though. All that chaotic running about - which I bet is hard in those big shin thingies - over some sticks. I like it!

Baseball - which I imagine the same is true for cricket - takes some time to really understand. There's a delicate precision to it. It really is a thinking man's sport. Unlike American Football, which is just mindless fun.

There r very few experiences like that firsst 6 strokes of a race, the first three strokes providing the power and then the next, the rate goes up and you begin to feel the boat move under you. its good. anyway, you get to wear lycra, who doesnt want to wear lycra, lol. To watch, it varies. Most sports tend to devolve to the point where (an) optimum stratagem(s) are dicovered and used, so it isn't very exciting. When a new strategem is developed and just coming into general acceptance is probably the most exciting time. I loved the CFL (variant rules football american) when it first started, a fast paced game where roles were so poorly defined that you could see the wheels turning insiide people's heads as they tried to figue out how shifting a safety closer to the line would affect the play. The whole "new" run-shoot offense in American football kept the sport interesting for a few years at the same time. Ah, the basketball of the late 1970's and early 1980's was so different from the stylized events they've become now.

These days it is scarce worth the effort to watch professional sports, it seems they have all become choreographic events where every player knows their role and the opponents response. As for non-pro sports, hard to beat rugby (also my current favorite pro-sport).

As a spectator I like football, no I don't mean the kind played in shorts and silky blouses- you believe someone called SOCCER! a man sport earlier in the thread. I like the last 5 minutes of basketball games.

*A footnote for those who commented that pads make football, remeber that's the sport football not the effeminate passtime SOCCER! that some mistakenly call football, a gentle or easy game. You've obviously never worn the pads and played the game. If you had you'd realise the those pads are high-impact plastic, a similar material to the clubs that police carry. The helmet and pads prevent concussions and dislocated or seperated joints in most cases but cause alot of pain. If you know someone who rides a motorcycle, run a couple of miles while wrestling someone and have your motorcyclist friend beat you with thier motorcycle helmet all the while. You will then have some idea what a game of football is like.

Yeah, very accurate. Except that you have to lug all the weight of the pads along with you when you are running a couple of miles.

Football (not soccer) is the best sport played at a major leval EVER. (like a cross between Rugby and Chess. In terms of strategy, it is one of the deepest sports. In soccer (and most other sports) strategy consists of "X is very good, get him the ball" or "Y is open, get him the ball". Baseball has pinch hitting, piching rotations, etc. but is still not as deep as Football)

I also like Basketball (strategy is more or less zone vs pass... but the high scores are fun) and Chess.

Lacrosse is fun to watch but I am horrible at it.

I like NCAA football, but the NFL sucks. Except for the guys on my fantasy team, that is.

Even though I am German, I prefer American Football. Probably makes me some kind of oddball.
Unfortunatly it's damn hard to watch the NFL without pay-tv and impossible to watch college football.

Anything that involves a stick that can be used to beat other opponents heads in. :gundge: :D
It's called "Brockonian Ultra Cricket" and is favoured in most enlightened parts of the multiverse.

I like playing billiards with planets.

Yes, on pay-tv, but not for free. So the few who like football meet at somebody who has pay-tv or a pub which has and make a Superbowl Party. It's plenty of fun.

:( Can tell it's a US poll, no Rugby or Cricket :(

Football is the best though (The one where they actually use the foot to play the sport) 'Specially the Championship and Sheff Wed (Haha to any Leeds fans :p)

Biking and swimming. I prefer these individual activities to sports that are played in teams or that are competitive.

What the fuck what about lacrosse? I know it is not the most popular sport sport in the world but for the people who play(like me) it that's all they ever talk about. plus no one can realy say they don't like it. It got the speed of basketball, the foot work of football (both of the but more of the one where you use round ball) and the body counts of hockey. What's not to like?:headbang:
