Extremely fast winds. Lots of rain. Loud thunder.

Hmm... Has the hurricane reached Houston, or is this just a hell of a thunderstorm?

Wow. Lightning just killed the streetlights!

--- Looks like the lights are back on. Weird.

The other side of the street's been hit by lightning, and all the houses there have no power. I think that was the loudest thunder clap I've ever heard, and possibly the brightest lightning strike I've ever seen.

Wow, another sonic boom of a thunder clap!

Haven't you ever heard that you shouldn't use a computer in a thunderstorm?

Just a thunderstorm. The real fun is in the Gulf, heading, for the moment, for the Louisiana/Mississippi coast. She's already passed over my house in south Florida.

Haha. Good stuff.

Don't worry, people --- Everything's plugged into a failsafe surge protector, and I've got a very good power supply in my computer (Antec!). It's already been turned off due to electrical surges three times, and not a problem's arisen :D.

And it appears to be heading for New Orleans...

I was living in Florida when Fredrick came through - just a little hurricane - but the damage was incredible to me (I lived on the barrier island of Gulf Breeze).

We evacuated, but the hotel was hit by a tornado.
So the fun is just beginning.

I love New Orleans and am wondering how well those old romantic building will hold up.

I feel for you all that will get hit.

Keep the update going as long as you can without frying your computer or hurting youself.

This is why I live in Southern California. Sure we get earthquakes.. but that's a heck a lot better then hurricanes, in my opinion.

National radar is showing a little thunderstorm in the Huston area. Enjoy the light show.

Overrated. Trust me. We have a bunch of news corps here, that's why they always get massive media coverage. Not because they're some epidemic that no one can deal with.
