,,,so why should I learn to read?
The following is taken from a Yahoo news story, so it's probably worth the paper it is (not) printed on; however, this is not the first example of this type of behavior I've seen from the side on the right (now), or from any group (currently) in power.
I'm not trying to discuss my (uninformed) opinion on the war in Iraq. I'm simply pointing out a small yet still somewhat alarming example of groupthink doing exactly what it does best: not thinking at all.

(regarding the 2 camps growing in Crawford, Texas)
There also were some heated moments at the pro-Bush rally when Bush supporters mistakenly identified two people as war protesters. The two walked in with a sign that read "Say No to War — Unless a Democrat is President."
Many Bush supporters only saw the top of the sign and believed the men were war protesters, so they began shouting and chasing the pair out. One man tore up their signs.
When Will Marean of Minneapolis kept repeating that he was on the Bush side, one Bush supporter shook his hand and apologized.

I may like the last sentence the best. I see it like this: "Hey, buddy, I'm sorry. Let me shake your hand. I didn't know you were on our side."
