Whittier's Restaurant Review

Whittier--

I, God's Gift To Women, have decided to review the restaurants of Sierra Vista, Arizona.

Why not? I got to like 3 restaurants a day ever weekend. And some restaurants I frequent.

First the bad.

Denny's.
Though this might be a fluke. Up until my surgery about 4 months ago, I went to this place like every single day almost, for the past 2 years.
The service was always great. The waitresses smiled and were friendly. And the service was prompt. And the food was very good. And the restaurant was clean. The occasionaly (only 2 occasions) dirty silver ware was promptly replaced with clean silver ware when brought to the waitress's attention.
However, that was not the case last weekend. Maybe it is because the other waitresses don't work there anymore. They've hired a lot of new people since I've been stuck at home recovering from surgery.
I went in there last Saturday. There were no smiles and I got what I guess you call a cold shoulder. When I was sitting at the counter, I noticed that there was a lot of trash both in front of and behind the counter. Mind you I usually sit at a table. The waitress was like "What do you want?" Which of course is not bad in itself, it was the way it was said. Very rude.
When I ordered my food, I had to wait 3 hours for it and when it arrived it was cold. And while I was waiting, I could not believe my eyes. I saw 3 cockroaches running along the floor amidst all the trash. And I thought, this place has gone to the junk yard.
As I sat there reading my magazine, waiting for the food, I overheard a loud waitress tell some person sitting behind me, "Up yours". All he asked for was a refill on his soda and she treated him like that?
The food when it finally arrived, (yes I inspect food before I eat it, I don't care what you think), had some hair in it.
And that is why Denny's gets an F today.
But like I said, maybe it was fluke. Maybe they were just having a bad day. So, as I, God's Gift To Women, always do, (and because I know the management and at least 3 of the waitresses I knew still work there) I shall go back at the end of this coming week. And I am certain I will bring back a very good review of the place and its employees.

The same day, right after Denny's cause I had become so disgusted by the filth I saw that I left without really eating the food (if you know what I mean), I went to Applebees.
The waiter was polite, professional and prompt. He was also helpful when I needed to call the cab company. He showed me where the free phone was. I did not know they had phones that people could use for free. Even the hostessses were polite and freindly. The food came promptly and was clean of impurities. The place itself was also very spotless. The food was well cooked and good. So I decided to order the Cheese Chimichanga dessert with vanilla ice cream. The service on that was prompt also. And it was good. If you ever go to Applebees, and you haven't tried it yet, you should order it. It's a pastry with cream cheese and peices of apple for the filling.
Even the payment part was pleasant. So I left a $20 tip versus a $1 tip that I left at Denny's.
Overall, my experience at Applebees was extremely good. I give them an A+ today.

And, of course, if the service keeps up, one the servers at Applebee's will be getting a nice financial reward in the coming weeks. (I've always chosen a day and given whoever I thought was the best server in town a $50 tip). Previously the award went to one of the Denny's waitresses but since she moved north, it looks like a waitress at a different restaurant will be gettting it this time around.

And that is it for now. Feel free to post your own restaurant experiences. Be sure to give at least one good and one bad.

Sounds like that Denny's has changed management.

The only "bad" experience I have had (I don't dine out often) was a local Subway. It use to be squeaky clean.. went back a few weeks later.. lettuce, tomatoes, olives and peppers were everywhere. I asked them " have you changed management"? Yep they had. I haven't went back since. I go to the other one (same distance .. but another direction) now.

(and because I know the management and at least 3 of the waitresses I knew still work there) Re-read and saw that hehe .. didn't read full post lol..

Maybe they will get it back right.

and BTW.. Cool for you to be such a good tipper!! Also folks.. if you order Pizza delivery .. tip them well also. I recently read a pizza delivery site with some horrific stories, some of these people go through hell to deliver you a hot pizza. http://www.tipthepizzaguy.com/stories/

Your choices are Denny's and Applebees? I think I wandered into the beginning of a horror rp thread.

Its a small town. They don't have much here. They don't have a Scotty's or an Ibiza's. (They got those in my hometown).

OK, if you got better then do tell us. Just remember one good and one bad if possible.

No dude--I feel for you. I honestly do. I love eating out at good restaurants, and the last couple of places I've lived have been meccas for great food--first San Francisco and now Fort Lauderdale. Plus, I grew up near New Orleans. Bad restaurants tend not to survive in those locales, simply because the competition is so fierce.

Lately, I've found a new place--a bakery/sandwich shop named Pain du Jour. Fresh bread and pastries baked right on the premises, as good as any French patisserie. They make an Italian bread pudding that will knock you on your ass. I've been there 4 times in the last week.

nothing like freshly baked pastries.
If I go to say the dounut shop, I usually don't buy anything unless I see them pulling it fresh from the oven.
