This is the first time I've seen Meatloaf in concert-I know I should have years ago. People are telling me they suck now. I'm still looking foward to it.

I've always loved Meatloaf-when I was a kid, my father had the "Bat out of Hell" LP (Album) I'm pretty sure I know all the words to all their songs.
Anyhow-Its at the PNC Arts Center in NJ-about 20 minutes away-its half covered, half open air. My wife got the tickets for me as a Father's Day gift. Last year she got me tickets there for Pavorotti's farewell tour. They have bars set up-its a good time.

I know its old stuff, and I have strayed from classic rock a bit because I grew up with it. And no one belts them out like Meat.
I also saw Van Halen last summer-back with Sammy Hagar, which is how I like them best. That was a great show. Eddie's son Wolfgang even joined him for his guitar solo-it was a good time.
I had a lot of good times with Van Halen and Meatloaf playing in the backround-they're part of the sound track of the story of my youth.
Though I'm the only 38 yr old guy I know with Type O and Stained in my cd player right now.

Its not even 20 miles from me. I'm not sure what one wears to Meatloaf these days. I think the tattered Columbia cargo shorts blue hawaiin shirt I'm wearing will be fine. My wife is sorting through summer dresses.

Meatloaf is far from my cup of tea (hell, not even my glass of water) but definitely an icon in his genre. Hope you have loads of fun and the show rocks beyond your expectations.

Holy Cow! Is he still alive? I thought he got eaten in the Rocky Horror movie.
Ohmigod! I LOVE MEATLOAF!
I remember being 7 and singing "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" at the top of my lungs in the basement and seeing my dad get this weird look on his face. Then he told me no matter WHAT, not to sing it at school.
Incidentally, I have Bat Out of Hell on tape, record, and 2 CDs >.<
Blatant flamebait: Meatloaf is far better when he is not working in collaboration with Jim Steinman.

The show was great!! He really is old, starting to puff up again, stalking around the satge a little like Quasimodo, but he puts on quite a show.
He announced there will be a "Bat Out Of Hell III" in 2006- They did a song from it I want to say was "It only hurts when I feel"?- I cant remember.
We were in row "E", which put us 5 rows from the stage-really close.
"Paradise By The DashBoard Light" must have carried for 15 minutes or more. They did Bat Out Of Hell, You took the Words Right Outta My Mouth, Two Out of Three Aint Bad, I Would Do Anything for Love and several others.
The backup singers were great and the girl that sang opposite for "Paradise" was amazing.
NO intermission and one encore song. I missed getting a guitar pick by
inches after he flung a few.
He is playing the Borgata Casino in Atlantic City in September, I'm considering going to that one too.

I am imagining any studio recording he does will have much more power that at the live show-at some point, his voice was lost in the volume of the instruments and others singing.
He is getting on abit, but it's amazing what a young following he has, we'll in Wharfedale at least, I went with 2 mates and my GF and we all have at least one of his CDS (I have Heaven can Wait, Bat out of Hell and Bat Out of Hell II) There are another 10 or so people at school who like his stuff, seeing as this is a 270 pupil secondary modern school in the middle of Rural Yorkshire that ain't bad.

I did see many teen and 20 yr olds, but a majority of the people there were my age- 30s and up-some way up- a lot of under dressed 50 yr old women. It was good to see them having a good time though.
A good show. And I didnt have to worry about having an M-80 go off two feet from me, like at the last time I saw Judas Priest in concert, years ago.
A freind of mine went to a blink 182 concert, and he was sat next to the speakers. He had to go to the hospital after his ears started bleeding. I've been to a lot of concerts, but Milton Keynes (Green Day) was the best. Meatloaf was good though.
