So which of these new channels do you watch mainly? Why? And what do you think of the others?

And you might as well put your political leaning here as well, Liberal or Socialist, it could be interesting to see if all Republicans do watch Fox :P

Also wondering- what do you think of the BBC news website? Takes up a third of all British internet traffic apparently.

[edit] Since it seems the wording wasn't clear enough.

What exactly are you talking about? I think it's news channels, but your wording is too vague to be sure...

I watch many different news channels, I picked CNN because it's probably the one I watch most. I also watch a lot of the CBC and I do watch the BBC and I watch MSNBC as well as Fox, but I usually only watch Fox if I want a good laugh. Even though I do tend to find CNN quite conservative, I still find their coverage better than any other cable news outlet for American news. There are of course other news sources I get my news from, but that might be a long list..lol :)

RTE, most of the time. Then BBC, sometimes CNN and NTV or Euronews, depends what's on when I turn on the TV, really. I think you should have made that poll with multiple options, as few people only watch one channel and nothing else...

Hm... theoretically, none of the above. I went for BBC because I think it's closer to BBC world than CNN is to CNN international. I've heard from people that know that there are big differences.
My primary source of information are the German public channel news broadcasts. Those channels are run by numerous interest groups (Protestant and Catholic church, representatives of the parties in local legislation [all of those], representatives of labor unions and industry) in order to reduce any bias. This works wonders for domestic politics, but inherently causes a slight pro-German skew when concerning foreign events. But it's mainly concerning what they show and not how they show it. The public channels are worlds apart from the private channels, which have sorry excuses for news broadcasts.

I usually watch a local newstation or two for LA (like Local Fox news).

The bigger ones.. perhaps Fox and CNBC. CNN sucks, so I just pass on that one.

We get BBC News 24, which basically does the job. Occasionally I'll watch the ITV News At 10 because it's half an hour longer than the BBC's programme and covers some stories in more depth.

I used to watch CNN all of the time. But then I discovered the wonders of BBC World News, which is far superior then CNN. I had to stop watching CNN when every time I turned it on it was the Blake trial, the Kobe trial, the Scott Peterson Trial, the Jacko trial, or some other stupide shit that isn't news. I came to realize that america has no quality cable news. It's really sad.

If only it worked like that. In reality the more one watches FN, the more conservative one becomes. Their propaganda fuses your conservative synapses.

Same with extremist websites; they use mild and sensible sounding language to capture those that still have moral values :p

Usually I watch the CBC, but due to the strike going on there, they've been using BBC newsfeeds, which is my second chance when I can't access CBC in anycase.

I question everything I seee/hear/read in the media anyways, its really the only logical thing to do.

EDIT: Pimp! Pimp? Pimp?!?!?!?!

I'm offended. Pimps are scum.

I like Channel 4 News best, and BBC is also good. CNN is crap and superficial, and FOX is outright propaganda, just like the rest of the Murdoch media.

Wow. That's an ignorant comment/question. Why does one have to be poor or unemployed to hate the republicans. I myself am educated, employed and well paid, but I hate the Republicans (more specifically the Canadian breed of Republicans: The Canadian Alliance)

Their policies (up here) are BAD for the country and bad for the citizens. Why do I have to be poor or unemployed to have such an opinion? Do you think the inverse then holds true, that if if I'm rich & wealthy I should support them? Pffffffffffffffft.

More like I'd have to be a fool to support a party which goes against what I believe.

Grow up.

BBC, no question. channel 4's news is pretty good, but ITV blows ass. don't lets even mention channel 5's news :P

and as for the other poll options, don't get em over here (maybe a couple on some random digital freeview channels but, bah, can't be arsed with that)

Great idea, posting a poll on an .co.uk website with basically only American options, and BBC.

I watch mostly YLE and MTV3 news, and compare them. The first is just like BBC, the second a major private channel. Or, then, BBC. But BBC tends to concentrate too much on Middle Eastern politics - which are intensely and mind-bogglingly boring.

C-Span is what I usually watch for information on political happenings. I rarely watch news channels .. But if there is something going on non political or something that really interests me I will check updates on all of them available here if I have the time, FOX, CNN, MSNBC.. as well as looking it up on web sites.

I prefer Channel 4 news but watch BBC the most as its on all day on BBC News 24. Politically I'm a Communist and no news channel shares my opinions so I watch the ones which are least biased in support of capitalism and the establishment. The worst channel would have to be Fox News which simply acts as a far right propaganda machine for the Republican Party, absurdly decribing itself as "fair and balanced".

I don't watch news channels. I read the newspaper, listen to the news on national radio when I'm in the car and read a news site on the web. On the rare occasions that I'm home in the evening, I sometimes watch TV3 news.

I choose the BBC because that is who I refer to for international News--as far as really watching or Listening or Website content I go Public--P{ublic Television/Radio and their respective websites--the Others I simply do not trust.
I dont trust the BBC either--but i have enough counter content to have a good gauge of them.

PBS/NPR all the way.
