Specific America Poll

Since there is a lot of America bashing on this forum, I was wondering how many people here hate Americans, and how many just hate Bush and what he is doing. If you want to discuss it, make it mature. We don't need another flame/flamebait thread.

I am American, and I like many many things about my country. I also dislike some things, like our continual stupidity about sex and our disgraceful endorsement of homophobic laws. I find many of our leaders and public figures are insulting the most noble values of this country, by forcing bigotry, religion, and chickenhawkery upon America (and the rest of the world). I am deeply ashamed of my country's actions over recent years, particularly our election of such an embarassing chimp of a president, and I sometimes think it would be best for me to leave before I lose what is left of my respect for my nation.

But I believe in America, and I believe it is worth saving. I believe that we have come through other dark and shameful times in our history, and we have come through stronger and better than before. I believe I should stay and help make America as wonderful and beautiful as I know it can be.

Plus, we have some really kickass bands around these parts.

Why is there no option for people who like the USA and Bush?
Anyway, I dislike Bush because I have no great love for the conservatives, but I don't think that my personal opinion of Bush is of any importance.
For the american people, they are exactly like any other people I've met, so why should I dislike them on general?

I like the US, and what it stands (or stood? :( ) for. That being said, I hold no love for this president nor his actions in regard to the deficit, foreign policy, and more or less all of his domestic policy. His actions have shattered the bipartisanship that was in place after 9/11 and helped build the image of an international pariah, which, although unfair in many cases will still hold even after he's gone, at least for a while.

Maybe a little more clarification on what the poll options mean is needed. "Disliking America" means you do not like both Americans and Bush. By "Disliking Bush" I meant that you like/don't care about America, but don't like Bush. "Like/don't care about America" means that you like or don't care about both Bush and America.

Bush's policies and values, on the whole, sicken me, and make me ashamed to be an American at times. However, I don't really have much against America itself - especially when I look at how well off other countries are in comparison.

I'm American and I picked "dislike America" since it came closest to what I really think. I have a problem with the way the current administration handles things, especially in foreign policy, how past administrationy handled things, again especially in foreign policy, and how too many of my fellow Americans just don't care about how we treat the world as long as the guy in charge promises to maintain his "values" (a personal impression I had on election day. It's softened a bit by now).
So the option that only said to hate the Bush administration wasn't really what fit my opinion. I don't hate Bush because he's a Republican (my dad is a Republican and he's a nice guy) but because I think he's a bad person.

I'm an American, and I picked Chocolate milk. I could sure go for some of that right now. :D

Bush is like any other president, in the fact that he'll be history in a few years. No one can make everyone happy, or be universally loved and respected. Maybe all the hate-mongering I've seen in politics these past few years will motivate people to choose more carefully during the primaries before the 2008 election. I say the primaries, because when those are over, there's only two candidates left that have a solid chance of winning. If both of them suck, who do we have to blame? Ourselves.

Yeah, but I meant ourselves as a country. John Kerry was the democrats fault, and George Bush was the republicans fault.

I'm still trying to figure out what to do when I'm 18. Go to a foreign college or stay here. I don't like America, its leaders, adn what it does. I plan to move away to Europe or Asia.

I'm a registered republican, I think America Rocks, and I like President Bush's foreign policy, although I think it's a bit too weak. Needs more ICBMs, land mines, Cluster bombs, and NAPALM.

I like America. I want to like Bush, but find it very hard. I sort of like his foreign policy, but we are not fighting the war correctly. (we are being too nice and limiting our soldiers) I don't like his dealings with the boarders and immigration.

8 more wars is more like it, or $8 trillion more in national debt.

No, I'm pretty sure Bush is done with wars for now. And as well, you can't expect a war with absolutely no debt. Money has to be spent for a war to be fought. This was one of the causes that led to the American revolution. Wars cost. Period.
