Has this ever happened to you before?

Have any of you ever been through a brief period in your life where you didn't feel like doing much of anything and had barely any interest in much of what usually interests you?

Yeah, ususally people call it depression, but it may just mean that there's a main goal lacking. When you don't have something within your reach that you really want to go after, whether it's a job or a relationship or wanting to read every book written by whoever... wherever your interests and needs lie... when you don't have something to reach for you kind of just stop and go 'bleah...i don't wanna...' If the things you're reaching for are too high, or if you've gotten all of your major goals met, and you've gotten to where you just don't care anymore then the best thing to do is make more goals that are challanging but within your reach.

Life presents you with challanges automatically, so usually these periods don't last long. Pick up a new hobby. :)

Oh yeah. But there are a million interests out there, from debating big issues to nose-picking competitions. Losing one or two shouldn't a problem. Give yourself time to pick up a new one!

Yes. Its called depression. In my case it wasn't always brief, it repeated itself and followed bouts of mania. I have Bipoalr Disorder however, so in my case it was caused by an underlying condition. If you no longer have interest in things you would otherwise be passionate about, it probably is time to ask for help, but does not neccessarily mean your mentally ill like myself. And if you do have a mental illness, its nothing to be ashamed.

I hope to God that your case is simply one of the natural occurences even the sanest and healthiest of people go through. If you have trouble getting out of it, don't hesitate to ask for help. There is no shame in asking for help for such a problem, just as there would be no shame in asking your doctor for help overcoming a physical malady.

Good luck, be well.

What do you mean? This picture just screams depression! It's not smiling, it's trying to act happy but it can't bring itself to smile.... So sad.... :(

I´ve been like that for years (seriously), can´t keep a hobby up for more than a couple of days or so... This forum is the exception though.
