Somebody make this happen!

OK, there have been like 500 threads on this topic( :headbang: ), so I don't want another debate on evolution/creation. What I want to see is 3 world-renouned evolutionist professors have a sensible and fair debate with 3 respectful creationist/intelligent design professors.

Can anybody get this together and make this happen  ? Then we could leave the job to the professionals who know what they are saying...

Your thoughts guys? :)

My sentiments exactly!

Now I'm going to count the seconds until someone foolishly quips "But anyone advocating creationism or ID probably isn't a professor :p ", and watch this thread torch in the flames.

Well since theres no such thing as a respected ID proffessor..I can get you three crack-whores, the owner of a chinese luandry, one pickled bologna sandwich, and a 16 year old Danish laborer that works in a factory, making fake vomit.

What's with the growing school of thought on NS that we are somehow not allowed to debate things because we're not "experts"?

No, I'm not saying we should not debate this, go right ahead :p (but not in this thread - it is not the subject) I am simply asking your thoughts on this idea, and how many people would like to see this become reality (cause I don't see this happening for a long time)

It's the way it should be. Too many stupid and ignorant things are said on here from both sides of every issue and, frankly, I wish it would stop. A bunch of silent laymen are preferrable to a bunch of rambling laymen if you ask me :D

No, i disagree. People should be allowed to debate what they want, no matter how stupid, ignorant or shameless they are. Maybe after reading other people's thought they could be enlightened...

BTW, I also think people should not get so worked up about things, make huge generalizing comments, etc. but no one is perfect..

P.S., anybody got a list of suitable people who would qualify?

Then I encourage you, as a show of good faith, to take the first step and stop posting in threads whose subjects you are not considered a world-renowned expert.

Actually, I should have clarified: Only those who are scientists or follow science so closely that they might as well be scientists should participate in evolution debates. As for debates on Christian doctrine, I would prefer it if the occassional ignorant atheist didn't jump in, as I respect others enough to stay out of evolution topics as I don't know what I'm talking about.

Cute distinction, allowing yourself access to debates you otherwise would ban yourself from. That's not what you originally stated, but as I know there's no use in trying to call you on your verbal blunder, I won't bother.

no because creationists dont care about debate they care about exposure, if we have this sort of debate we effectivly make creationism a respectable theory which while unproven has some credibility. No, the best way to deal with creationists is to ignore them and hope they go away, because really no matter how many time you proove them wrong they'll just come back with another rehash of "intelligent design" and get more airtime and more public exposure.

I'm no Professor, nor am I Christian, but I reckon I could put across the case for an intelligent design of This world. It would fall down when it comes to describing ID as the source of the creator, of course, but the case for a designer (or team of designers?) could be at least partly validated by taking God out of the picture completely.

The best thing ID Scientists could do to further their cause is to design a universe simulation of their own to show how it can be done. I argue that such a simulation is not far away from fruition; that the Role of the Intelligent Designer could very well be mimiced by ourselves within a sub-universe of its own.

Until such time as they're willing to begin such a simulation, though, it's not reasonable to incite such debate. If they were true scientists, they'd have no problem with such an experiment, even accepting the possibility that their Truth may be slightly different than they expected...
