Easy to do when your stealing oil from British claimed areas of the North Sea and throwing it into a country wide slush fund for your entire massive population of maybe over 1 million...

If you are going to live in that region, Switzerland would be a better place...although Norway sure is tempting. My fathers side has a wee bit of Viking history to it  :D

But yeah. Norway kicks ass. Proof that the Welfare State works if you don't abuse it.

To put it simpler, the Nordic countries (Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Denmark) are all at the top of the list... I live in Sweden, it doesn´t rain much here, a lot of sunshine, varying from -15 or -20C in the winter to 30C in the summer, not much snow anymore though.

-15 to -20C .... I dunno.... do you have enough saunas?

That´s finland... And that´s just in the coldest parts of winter, around christmas and newyears, when it usually freezes up. Then it can go back to ´bout -7 to february and then above 0 in march, and it generally doesn´t go below 0 before december.

-15 to -20C .... I dunno.... do you have enough saunas?Heck yeah. I went there last summer, rented a Log Cabin in Voss... Each cabin had its own sauna... That was bliss...

But that´s in Sweden, I think it might not get quite as cold in Norway, and in Skåne (in southern Sweden) it´s rarely below 0 degrees (below 5 for that matter... or 10). When my sisters were young, we could have 2 metres of snow here, so they had to close the schools... Hasn´t been above 1 metre as far as I can remember.

Id like to go to Norway and Sweden, and possibly Denmark. I just like talking about the weather, with me being English.... I suppose I can't really help it.

5 millions. Perhaps the British might be better off if they gave the average person a better break at housing, education, etc. The first step might be to get rid of the 'royal' parasites who, by the grace of god, lord it over the rest of the population who actually do work.

For me, Norway would be a wonderful country to live in if it were much farther south. I can't wait for nice sunny days every nine months; it would be like being pregnant. Also, nine months of darkness is one of the root causes of alcoholism, a problem in most northern countries. ;)

That statement has really offended me! (Reaches for 1l bottle vodka and extra large packet paracetemol tablets).

Well, yes, Norway is nice. Except that you have to pay an arm and a leg for beer and vegetables. It's rare to find whole cucumbers in the shop for crying out loud!!! They just don't grow enough of them to sell them whole.

Nah, come to Denmark!!! You still get the Scandinavian wellfare model, but you get better temperatures, due to being sorrounded by water on all sides, cheaper beer and all the cucumbers you can eat :D

Also, for those who enjoys smoking the herb, that's cheaper too down here ;)

Silly bunny, don't wash down your paracetamol with vodka. Alcohol actually prevents some of the damage to your liver you are going for (according to a friend of mine who studies bio-chemistry).

Really? In the US there have been several cases of liver failure induced by mixing alcohol and normal doses of Acetomenaphin (Our word for Paracetamol). There were lawsuits and now there's a warning on the medicine bottles.

Hey, plundering Brits worked for our forefathers. Old habits die hard, I guess ;) Anyway, if you want to get your share, emigrate to Norway! There's still room for a few more here.

Of course, the downside of Denmark is that their language consists almost entirely of wovels, and is therefore close to impossible to understand. Also, their flag has a sort of incomplete feel to it... Almost as if there was something missing in the middle of the white cross on it. I'm thinking it wouldn't take more than a couple of extra lines there to make it seem more complete.
