What I want to do is copy a small segment (~1 minute) of footage from a DVD, and convert it to an .avi or .mpg file. Does anyone know a freeware or shareware program that can do this? (randomly typing things into google didn't work, I kept coming up with "image capture" software, which isn't what I want. So I figured this was easier. :p)

Thanks...does that copy the whole thing, though, or can I just choose to rip my small section?

i would think fraps should be able to do this. it captures whatever is running on your screen at the time.

Perfect! Thanks a lot! :D

EDIT- Eek...Having all that running at the same time kills my PC though. Plus it has a 30 second limit for the shareware version...
