The legendary Chupacabra, a mysterious animal that is said to prey on livestock, may actually exist. A Texas farmer who's turkeys were being killed set a trap and caught an unidentified animal. Link includes video, but sound doesn't seem to work.

Personally I think the chupacabra is a pretty dumb legend to begin with. Supposedly it's just a rodent like creature that the sucks blood of farm animals.

I'll be impressed when we take out Big Foot, Sasqwatch,The Lock Ness Monster, or Godzilla.

"I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. There's a large out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside."

Um yes.
Not that I've had one.
It's how models in gent's magazines, actresses of a certain genre of movie, and anyone who wants to goes completely hairless, if you get my meaning.

They could weave that hair into yarn and start a line of fall sweaters and mittens with it.

It's either a coyote or a feral dog with sarcoptic mange - they are invariably skinny from the infection. I have shot one similar and seen others. It's not uncommon.

The forelegs appear short, but I suspect they are curled beneath the body.

I had thought maybe coyote, but without fur, the shape of the animal looks off.

But yeah, I've seen a dog that was so infested with fleas it was nearly as hairless as that one.

here's one explanation:

http://www.countryworldnews.com/Editorial/ETX/2004/et102804Creature.htm

I think it's a mangey canine. The one I shot looked the same but for a ridge of hair down the spine, making it look somewhat hyena-like. I have photos of it somewhere...

I agree with you except I think it is probably demodectic mange. The hair loss seems to be over the whole body so may simply be the animal never had hair. Also, I don't see signs of scratching like you would with sarcoptic mange.

You know, I just recently found out that I live in prime Bigfoot country (there was a prominant sighting down the street from me and the town next over has numerous sightings, according to the dude running the Bigfoot Museum down the street...) and then there is this:
Notable sightings in the United States include the one reported by multiple eye-witnesses in Calaveras County, California and at a recent birthday celebration of a Development Team member of a local charity in Houston, Texas. According to these reports, the creature was sighted for the first time in the early to middle 1990s, harming animals of different species - although it is now thought that people did this themselves.
Calaveras County is kinda far, but not that far from me-relatively speaking.

Now, in a state where we have to keep relocating Mountain Lions because of developments how in the hell are these two predators (one thats seven freakin' feet tall) remain hidden? What the hell?

Yeah, I know.

Being from Puerto Rico, we got chupacabra sightings/dead livestock there quite often.

My grandmother lives in a pseudo-rural area (as in, 5 minutes from one of the major cities but far away enough that some farmers have plots of land nearby) and I heard all the tales and what-not about the dead critters.

Seems that the animals definetely do get killed and drained, but most sources down there just believe it's most been the work of sick pranksters wishing to "be the Chupacabra" late at night. That, and that many farmers have livestock that dies on them for whatever reason and it turns into, "Oh no! Es el Chupacabra! Honey, get the news, El Chupacabra somehow managed to infect our chickens with a relatively common illness, thus killing them as opposed to it just being just a normal illness!"

In case you're wondering, all of us Puertoricans speak in over-elaborate sentences based in non-sequitor.

Damn-
*Update - Mr.Harvey has now spoken to Wildlife Division Director Mike Berger about the animal trapped in Coleman. Berger, who contacted the regional director in West Texas, Ruben Cantu, for more information, reported that they confirmed that "the 'chupacabra' is a Mexican folk tale, not a real beast." From the photos they've seen of the Coleman animal, they feel that it may be a coyote. According to Mr.Harvey, he hasn't found any evidence that this animal was ever handed over to The Texas Parks ans Wildlife Department. "I don't think anyone with our agency has it or knows who has it....it's possible that no one ever had this animal in custody...possibly someone took a photo of a dead coyote or other animal, doctored it a little and started spreading this hoax."

It seems only Mr.Laglow and his chickens know for sure.
