It's amazing the things you can find in junk stores. Check these babies out, and I bet you don't posses genuine commemorative Soviet stamps in perfect condition! Nah, just like showing these, you don't see 'em every day do you? I've been told this stuff isn't a common thing to see in America.

Rather ironic that they're probably worth a bit of money on somewhere like Ebay, isn't it? :p

Where I got them? Well, certainly not from the internet. These things are indeed pretty hot items, pretty much all soviet era things are popular commodities. I'm not going to sell them, maybe when I'm low on cash but that ain't gonna happen any time soon

When I was young, I was quite into stamps. I kept all the good ones. I have a stack of ones from North Korea, with pictures of gigantic soldiers kicking the Congress building in... and other ones from Iran with pictures of a claw reaching out of the UN building onto Iran and a giant sword cutting it off.

I like Lenin a lot. He has a very honest look to him.

I found a hardback copy of 'Leninism' by Stlin in the basement of a second-hand bookshop for £1. I'm not a Leninist but the blue, green and gold cover looks very impressive on the bookshelf. :p

I used to have a ton of that stuff left over from my trip to the USSR. Sold most od it off over time. Probably got rid of it too early to make as much as I could have. Schoolkids would come up to you on the street with little icons and pins they won in scchool and say, "Change! Change!" because while they taught them english fairly early they did'nt learn 'capitalist' words like trade. Really cute. But in the late 80's you could get all that stuff for a peice of bubble gum. I still have a colnel's hat I got for an old pair of Reebocks. Not selling that though...

Thats funny about the little kids in the old Soviet Union. In mainland China they will come up to you and hand you books about communism in english. I have several. They will say "communism is good" with a thumbs up. Very surreal situation. Seems to be some of the only english they know. But maybe I should keep these books for awhile. Now they are just a momento from a trip.
