Wouldn't the world go through a shift of powers if china and africa industrilizes? Considering before countries industrialize the birth rate is quite high and so is the death rate, but when they industrialize the birth rate is quite high, and new medicines are being produced, so naturaly the death rate would decrease. You would get a country that is mass producing people and materials?????? Considering africa has a population of *719 million in 1995 which was 10 years ago. Which is almost the population of Europe!

Excuse my grammer and punctuation... ;)

China is industrializing now and has a very low birthrate. One one hand this is due to government regulation, but on the other it is also due to the demographic transition that results in birthrates decreasing.

The world will go through a shift of power in the future. Asia will have more power, but this will simply be because more people will live in Asia than anywhere else.

This isn't a problem. China's one child policy makes it next to impossible to wage wars of aggression. (I feel it important to mention this because many people seem to think that a strong China is a "threat." This isn't true a weak China is a threat. For example, a China that couldn't control the spread of avian flu is more dangerous to you than a strong China that can.)

As conditions improve in Africa and they industrialize, they will also pass through the demographic transition and their population will stabilize. Africa will produce more materials than in the past, but will gradually reduce the number of people produced.

Africa is also much much bigger then Europe. With devolpment the birth rate goes down as well because they are more educated on the risks of STDs and contraception also with equal rights for woman they go to work instead of just getting married and people get married at an older age meaning less children.
