At the bottom of the gray NationStates banner (at the top of your screen) is a navigation bar. Click on 'Home'. Scroll to the bottom of the screen. There you will find a 'Logout $foo' link. It's an easy process. Similar to the 'off' button on your tv remote. And it doesn't require pissing off any one to do it.
