Garth Brooks Sucks!

I actually like a couple of his tunes, but I won't be buying his new record. Why? Because he's sold out America by signing an exclusive multi-year contract to sell his records only at Wal Mart stores. Yep, you can buy goods manufactured under unsafe conditions in a communist country, be served by workers who are poorly treated, and buy the latest Garth Brooks CD all under one roof now.

Oh please....all major stores are using the same or similar factories so why just attack one. This may just be one albumn anyway some kind of publicity type of deal. Do you wear NIkes? Uh-oh..communist shoes!

Personally, I'd rather be a poorly treated worker, suffering in unsafe conditions in a communist country, than listen to Garth Brooks.

Nope, New Balance. They're made in the USA if I recall correctly.

Good for you. You disagree with what he's done and voice your opinion with your wallet. If more people did that, we'd have more say in what these problem corporations (not all of them, just several) are doing. Too many people complain but still shop there.

Boston, Massachusetts. Though they do operate around the world.

Only selling at Wal-Mart stores ensures him making more money. Why? Because he is country, and the biggest fans of country are the South, and guess what else? Wal-Marts are everywhere in the South.

I can name three that are 15 minutes in any direction from me. They are crammed up here in the north to. Including our SUPER Walmart which contains not only its own bakery and photo imaging center, but medical info, a bank and a shopping center. Not to mention countless other things that are shocking.

I never liked Garth Brooks. Needless to say, I like him even less now.

I bet over 90% of the items Wal Mart carries are made in China

I'm not saying you're wrong. I dont shop at Wal Mart, if I can help it. The place is full of disposable junk, produced in other countries.

I don't care where Garth Brooks sells his crap...he sucks just because he does.

As does the rest of country music.

Oh no, that's not fair. There's plenty of good country music now. But the whole scene did take a while to recover from Brooks. I still love Rich Hall's suggestion that he should blow his brains out and use the splattered mess as a new logo for the CMAs.

There's really still nothing good on mainstream country radio stations.

You can like country music, that's fine, whatever suits you.

Me on the other hand...all country music just sounds the same to me...horrible guitar and shitty vocals.

I bet there alot of people who feel the same way about metal, which I like.

I'm in the UK, so there aren't many mainstream country stations. Those that I listen to tend to be more alt.country - Austin, not Nashville - so maybe I don't get a very representative sample. But I still think there is a good deal more talent around in mainstream country than, say, just after Hank Williams's death, or in the late eighties.

Yeah, I was shocked when I got to England for the first time and found that everyone there wasn't into Blur and My Bloody Valentine and that Take That and Steps were much more popular.

But yeah, there is some good country music coming out of Austin. There are actually small radio stations around here that play it along with 70s outlaw country, but I don't think those stations exist outside of Texas. Maybe they do. Anyway, pretty much everything on a mainstream country station is a syrupy ballad or a novelty songs. Thankfully the patriotic fad died out though.
