Would it be less financially draining to go to a college first? Right now, I'm looking to go to Pasadena City College first, then transfer to UCLA.

Depends on the degree and how many courses will transfer. Your best bet would be to see a counselor at PCC and find that out.

Less financially draining? Doubtful, unless UCLA is going to give you credit for all the courses you take at the City College, and most major universities don't do that. It'll also likely be more time-expensive as well, because you may have to retake classes you've already taken.

If I'm reading this right, the credits there will transfer over to UCLA.
