Fuel Pains

How is everybody doing with the cost of fuel on the rise?
What is the cost of "regular" where you live?
How much do you spend a week on fuel?
What will you be doing to try to conserve your fuel consumption?

I have a 4mile drive to work so it is not so bad for me.
In Saint Louis, MO today it was $2.49 a gallon
On avarage I spend $40 every two weeks.
As of right now I will not be changing my driving habbits.

$2.50 a week seems cheap here in California. Regular is like 2.75.

But I don't drive. So meh.

About 91.7p per liter, which is £3.47 a gallon, which is roughly $6.25 a gallon. Quit yer bitchin' :D

I don't drive, and I don't really ever plan to. Biking and walking seem to get me everywhere I need to go, and I actually enjoy riding the bus home to visit the family.

If 1 gallon = 3.785 litres.

1 litre cheapest price I know of is for both diesel and unleaded(I assume unleaded is regular) €1.049

so €3.97 per gallon Which is $4.85 per gallon

Two or three times a month. I have had to go down to the GE plant in Cincinnati, and at least for the next few months.

Most Americans only have a few miles to drive to and from work anyway, living in cities just like most Europeans, so it doesn't really matter that their country is bigger.

And still they bitch about paying less than half for fuel than we do, even though they are supposed to be richer, and living in a Free Land of Opportunity, etc etc. I'm just sick of hearing it.

$2.65 here...thats why I got rid of the 7.4 liter monster I used to drive. These days, I drive a car with a 2.0 liter engine. When you drive the US average (15,000 - 20,000 miles a year), it makes a big difference in fuel cost. I must admit, the 6.1 liter Charger is looking very inviting though.

Actually, hydrogen is starting to look even better.

Not in the Western US, where we don't have subways and it takes 2 hours to get to work if you have to take what few busses there are.

I will add that the longest commute I have ever had was a 20 mile drive....when I lived in the UK!

To refer to the topic, gas here in SE Kansas is $2.70.

I need to drive 14 miles to work (one way) in a LeSabre that pulls about 23 MPG.

The town I'm in is small enough that I have the SAME 14 miles (one way) if I need groceries, or a movie rental, etc.

A gallon of gas is about $2.49 here in Ocean County,New Jersey today.
I work for home mostly now, so I might spend $10.00 or $15.00 a week on gas.
We do plan any driving now to make the most of one trip, rather than several little ones. Also not sitting on drive thru lines at the bank or pharmacy-better to park and walk in anyway. Tire pressure in both my car and my wife's is correct and we arent carrying any needless items in the trunk-apparently, both of these will make a difference.

It's as roomy inside as a Ford Focus. Just less boot space. And no form of side impact protection. In fact, the doors are made of tinfoil painted blue...

...besides, I couldn't/wouldn't own a larger car, because
a) I can barely afford this insurance, and it is in the lowest insurance bracket in the UK.
b) It does the job and I don't need something with a larger engine to make me feel better.
c) It would cost to much in petrol to finance my daily 50 mile round trip with a car with a 30mpg - I'm right on the edge of my budget as it is.

My car suits me, I'm sure your car suits you too.

Another gas thread?

I hate it when people blow gas out of their rear end on this topic. :headbang:

Anyways, expect lower prices after labor day. Keep in mind, people won't be taking so many airplane trips. Remember one 747-400 uses 150,000 gallons of fuel (75,000 gallons in each wing) for like a standard 8-10 hour flight. When I found out that this was the look on my face:  Tell me how many gallons does your car have? 14? 15? 16? Something along those lines.

And quit complaining for those here in the US. My parents pay something like $6/gallon in Italy.

$2.47 here in Oklahoma. Luckily the only time I really drive is when I go see my friends (I make them split their money for gas, *cackles), and when I drive around 120 miles (round trip) to Oklahoma City to see my girlfriend every weekend. Work for me is only four miles away. Ironically enough, I rebuild Oilfield Pumpjacks.

Right now I'm driving a big grandma tank...a '99 Buick Century. I can't wait to get back my '64 1/2 Mustang with a 170 c.u. six cylinder...but I'll be relaly happy when I get the engine to my '73 Beetle rebuilt.

Let's not even talk about my F250 work truck...god damned fuel-monger. Argh!

Mr. Bean looks very comfy, by the way. Look at all that head and leg room! GReat Air-Conditioning as long as you don't hit a traffic jam.

Last Edit: My bug has a ten gallon tank, my grandma tank has about a 15 gallon. My Mustang, hmm, I forgot what it has. My F250 has a 15 gallon and a 10 gallon or so auxillary. I never fill both of them.

God damned fuel monger.
