SALT LAKE CITY A Utah television television station is refusing to air an anti-war ad featuring Cindy Sheehan, whose son's death in Iraq prompted a vigil outside President Bush's Texas ranch.

The ad began airing on other area stations Saturday, two days before Bush was scheduled to speak in Salt Lake City to the national convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

However, a national sales representative for KTVX, a local ABC affiliate, rejected the ad in an e-mail to media buyers, writing that it was an "inappropriate commercial advertisement for Salt Lake City."

In the ad, Sheehan pleads with Bush for a meeting and accuses him of lying to the American people about Iraq's development of weapons of mass destruction and its connection to al-Qaeda.

"I love my country. But how many more of our loved ones need to die in this senseless war?" a weary-looking Sheehan asks in the ad. "I know you can't bring Casey back. But it's time to admit mistakes and bring our troops home now."

Salt Lake City affiliates of NBC, CBS and Fox began running the ad Saturday.

I think the FCC should jump in on this matter. Spectrum is considered scarce and it's against rules to deny someone the right to access that spectrum for political adverts even if you disagree with them. If it were a newspaper ad, they'd be well within their rights to reject such an ad.

Then again, this is the same country that brought you a revolution with "no taxation without representation" as a battle cry and refuses to allow Washington, D.C. the right to have voting representatives in Congress in a callous display of hypocrisy courtesy of Republicans.

Are we talking about the Fox TV station or Fox news? Or is it Fox Sports? There are more than one Fox station on the air.

Now as to ABC, it is their right not to run it. They can run any commercial they want. Nothing the FCC can do to change that. They are an Affiliate anyway. In other words, they are a local channel.

I don't care if this ad runs or not but I will back up the affiliate for not running the ad just like I'll back up any station that does run the ad.

It is the Fox affiliate in SLC. You know, the channel that airs The Simpsons and Family Guy and stuff. It's not Fox News or Fox Sports.

Thats because ABC stands for All Bush Corporation. The All Bush Corporation fully support President bush in all policy. The All Bush Corporation also endorses the war in Iraq to the extent they fund the supply of WMD's to terrorist organisations.

Yes, you are, because that woman is part of the mudslinging, and her lies are horrible.Just because her "lies" ("I want other peoples' sons home so they don't die" is a lie?) aren't getting as many people killed as Bush's ("Iraq is part of the war on terror") they are horrible?

Thats right!!! Because Bush knows Best!!! Thats Right!!! Even when his military advisors told him we need over 100,000 (or more) Troops to go in and do the job he said. "Thanks but I know best. Hell we can do it cheeper." (Major Sarcaem)

Sorry, Bush gets rid of anyone that doesn't see things HIS way.

But why on earth a Jewish Media network would support the Iraq war...It does not make any sense... :D

Its just a coincidence.

Actually, that only applies to political campaign ads. Since Cindy Sheehan is not running for office, equal time rules do not apply. So the station is free to accept or reject the ad as it sees fit.

Freedom of speech includes the freedom not to speak. If the station's owners don't want to speak out against the war, they shouldn't be forced to do so.

yeah, just a certain person likes collecting news channels. And that leads to the news channels deciding what is shown and what not. His personal decision.
It's a damn pity he's the one that sent the troops to Iraq then...
