Metal Gear Solid-Left wing-Nukes are bad, right-wing politicians are cowardly crooks who want to sell out heroic, self-sacarificing leftists fighting for meaning in their life, war is bad, the militay is over-rated, Southern gun nuts are murderous back stabbers.

Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City and San Andreas-Cynical centralist-liberals whine, conservatives lecture, socialists are idealistic fools, pro-business people are exploitive selfish jerks.

Mercaries: Playground of Destruction-Right wing-Military force is the answer, the private sector is effective and can do no wrong, foreign countries in Southeast Asia are evil, international diplomacy is for wimps, corrupt money hungry oppertunist hired guns are heroic advocaters of capitalism-fueled justice and are cool.

Video games cause violence. Thats why we had WWII in the first place. Too many people playing too much Medal of Honor until one day WWII broke out.

if you where paying attention, you'd realise they take the piss out of every political group. If they can find somthing to poke fun at, the rockstar boys and girls will oblige, no prisoners.

as for the other, you need some sort of background and politcs is going to be key in drawing a scenario or key character motivations. You could say the same about just bout every novel ever.

Yeah, they've made several threatening references to Australia already.

They do it too much in my opinion.

I dislike games that revolve around politics, like theone with the weasel chained to the brain-dead furball.

Games are meant for playing, not analysis. That goes for everyone except those who make them and those who review them. As for me, I'll stick to my FPS and RPG habits with the knowledge that the things I do in games are not real life and therefore are irrelevant to anything outside of gaming. That's my opinion.

There's always the Political Campaign game. I couldn't believe it when I saw it at EB. The two guys on the cover remind me of two famous politicians over the past two years, though I can't quite pinpoint it.

Let's create a game with no political meaning at all! We can call it The Animal Farm...

Even better, we will choose a random year to name it after, possibly 1984.

You're looking at political content in games? Isn't that kind of like looking for trouble?

Can't we just enjoy the game?

I don't see how.

It is a developers right to put in whatever message they want in their game. However, we buy a game because we plan to play it, not because it's supported by the "right" or the "left".

I take the same stance when I go to the movies. I may not agree with a producer or directors viewpoints, but if the movie is a quality piece, that does not matter.

Well yea, we are just making observations that are hard to miss while playing the game.

Fair enough. I'm only remembering the days when people looked at entertainment and when they saw something they didn't agree with, they reported it to the House Subcomitee of Un-American Activities, and left art in the hands of a prick like MaCarthy.

Just stating that when I look for entertainment, I look at quality before "political affiliation".

Except for movies like Red Dawn, which was not only 1980s propaganda, but also complete shit.

...I watch it for the comedic value! :D

...The Political Machine? It had Bush and Kerry glaring at each other on the front cover comically drawn.

And, please don't tell me that the topic poster takes these things seriously. They just need a story. Movies do the same thing too.

That’s one of the reasons I love that game. :p

In Galactic Civilizations, communism is dead, and there is even a minor race that are the remnants of the failed Democratic Party of the US. Not to say Democrats are Communist, but the political leanings of Star Dock (the last independent game developer in North America) come in loud in clear in Galactic Civilizations and its other games.

The game is called the Political Machine. It was also made by Star Dock. :D

Never. It will just show how farmers are really corrupted by capitalism to make more money as the farmer gets richer, buys more land, and begins his monopoly over the market!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111

CAPITALISM = EVIL!!!!!!!!!!1111111111
